Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, won\u2019t move to his new home <\/a>on King Charles\u2019s Sandringham estate<\/a> until the new year, and will spend Christmas at his Royal Lodge<\/a> home.<\/p>\n

When Buckingham Palace initially revealed that King Charles would be stripping his younger brother of his royal titles<\/a>, they said, \u201cformal notice has now been served to surrender the lease [on Royal Lodge] and he will move to alternative private accommodation.\u201d That move, it was understood, would take place \u201cas soon as possible and practicable.\u201d<\/p>\n

The delay in move is reportedly twofold: One, that the move is proving to be more logistically challenging than anticipated and two, the fact that the royals gather for Christmas at Sandringham. A source told The Sun<\/em><\/a>, \u201cHe has a large house where he has lived for a long time and he will be moving into a more modest house so, logically, it won\u2019t happen this side of Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n

And, having Andrew living at Sandringham but not invited to Christmas, would be embarrassing, according to royal sources. The BBC <\/em>previously reported<\/a> that \u201caccording to royal sources, a delay in Andrew moving until the new year would avoid the embarrassment of him being in Sandringham at Christmas\u2014where the Royal Family traditionally gathers for the festive season.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the delayed move, the Daily Mail <\/em>reported<\/a> that the royals will \u201cbreathe a sigh of relief at the news, with sources admitting that the ex-prince\u2019s presence on the King\u2019s private Norfolk estate during the festive season, when most of the senior royals are in residence, would have been \u2018suboptimal.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
