Fans can, however, hear the first preview today with the release of Flea\u2019s original composition <strong>\u2018A Plea\u2019<\/strong>, which drops alongside a new music video today.<\/p>\n<p>In the track, written and performed by Flea, listeners are urged to <em>\u201cbuild a bridge, shine a light, make something beautiful and see somebody, give it to somebody\u201d<\/em> \u2013 a message of connection and optimism amid wider global divisions. Flea performs on electric bass, vocals and trumpet.<\/p>\n<p>The ensemble features double bassist<strong> Anna Butterss<\/strong>, guitarist <strong>Jeff Parker<\/strong>, drummer <strong>Deantoni Parks<\/strong>, percussionist <strong>Mauro Refosco<\/strong>, alto flautist <strong>Rickey Washington<\/strong>, trombonist <strong>Vikram Devasthali<\/strong>, vocalist <strong>Chris Warren<\/strong>, and producer <strong>Josh Johnson<\/strong>, who also provides vocals and appears on alto saxophone.<\/p>\n<p>A music video, also released today, is directed by Los Angeles-based photographer and filmmaker <strong>Clara Balzary<\/strong>, with choreography by <strong>Sadie Wilking<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Discussing the song\u2019s themes, Flea said its lyrics reflect a <em>\u201cyearning for a place beyond, a place of love\u2026 for me to speak my mind and be myself. I\u2019m always just trying to be myself.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He continued: <em>\u201cI don\u2019t care about the act of politics. There\u2019s a much more transcendent place above it where there\u2019s discourse to be had that can actually help humanity, help us all live harmoniously and productively in a way that\u2019s healthy for the world.
