{"id":2184651,"date":"2025-12-02T22:09:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T22:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2184651"},"modified":"2025-12-02T22:09:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T22:09:09","slug":"longtime-collaborator-bryan-michael-cox-named-in-usher-lawsuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/longtime-collaborator-bryan-michael-cox-named-in-usher-lawsuit\/","title":{"rendered":"Longtime collaborator Bryan-Michael Cox named in Usher lawsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Usher <\/strong>is suing one of his longtime music producers, other associates and their attorney over a loan he says he gave them for a Buckhead restaurant that never opened.<\/p>\n<p>According to WSBTV.com, <strong>Usher Raymond<\/strong> filed the lawsuit in Fulton County on Friday against <strong>Bryan-Michael Cox, Keith Thomas, Charles Hughes <\/strong>and entertainment lawyer<strong> Alcide Honor\u00e9.<\/strong> Cox has produced some of Usher\u2019s biggest hits, including \u201cBurn\u201d and \u201cU Got It Bad.\u201d Thomas and Hughes also work in the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n<p>Usher says the group came to him last year with the idea to open a restaurant and lounge called Homage ATL.\u00a0 The singer did not want to be an investor, but agreed to loan the group $1.7 million and wired it to a trust account in January, according to the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>He received $1 million in August, but said he hasn\u2019t received the remaining balance of $700,000. Usher\u2019s lawsuit accuses Honor\u00e9 of admitting that giving the money back was \u201cnot that easy\u201d because it had been used for \u201cother purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-1    \">\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<p>The lawsuit requests $4.9 million in damages, $700,000 for each of the seven claims in the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<aside>\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<p>Cox responded to the suit with an Instagram post.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve learned a lot recently about being careful with who you choose to invest in a business with, no matter how small the investment,\u201d Cox said in the caption of a photo of him and Usher.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m currently in the middle of a failed deal that I didn\u2019t orchestrate, and while the situation has been disappointing, I know my name will be cleared by both sides.
