\nQueen Camilla will soon welcome German President Frank-Walter
\nSteinmeier and his wife Elke B\u00fcdenbender<\/a> to the United Kingdom
\nfor the final State Visit of the year, and here\u2019s everything you
\nneed to know.<\/h5>\n

When President Steinmeier and Ms. B\u00fcdenbender arrive at Heathrow
\nAirport, the Prince and Princess of Wales will be waiting to greet
\nthem. The royals and the presidential couple will then travel to
\nWindsor, where King Charles and Queen Camilla will be waiting on
\nDatchet Road at the Royal Dais for an official welcome.<\/p>\n

As The King and Queen greet their guests, a royal salute will be
\nfired from the Windsor Home Park and at the Tower of London, and
\nall parties will ride in a carriage procession up to Windsor
\nCastle.<\/p>\n

The King and President Steinmeier will inspect the Guard of
\nHonour and receive the royal salute before joining The Queen and
\nMs. B\u00fcdenbender and William and Catherine to watch the military
\nmarch past.<\/p>\n

Following the welcome ceremony, King Charles and Queen Camilla
\nwill host the German president and his wife, and members of the
\nRoyal Family, for a lunch in the State Dining Room. They will also
\nview an exhibit featuring items of German interest from the Royal
\nCollection in the Green Dining Room.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon, President Steinmeier will visit Prime Minister
\nKeir Starmer at No. 10 Downing Street and meet with German and UK
\nbusiness leaders; Ms. B\u00fcdenbender will separately visit the Judith
\nKerr Primary School, a school with a German connection through its
\nnamesake, a German children\u2019s book illustrator.<\/p>\n

The final engagement tonight will be a State Banquet hosted by
\nKing Charles at Windsor Castle, where the King and President
\nSteinmeier will give speeches.<\/p>\n

Thursday begins with a poignant private visit to St George\u2019s
\nChapel, where President Steinmeier and Ms. B\u00fcdenbender will lay
\nflowers on the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II.<\/p>\n

After the German presidential couple returns to Windsor Castle,
\nthey will accompany King Charles and Queen Camilla to a reception
\nfor The Big Help Out, which will highlight the vital work of
\nvolunteering in the community.<\/p>\n

Royal history is next on the agenda, with the King and Queen
\ndisplaying the State Sleigh, a gift for Queen Victoria designed and
\ngiven by her husband, Prince Albert. The State Sleigh dates back to
\n1845.<\/p>\n

President Steinmeier and Ms. B\u00fcdenbender will then travel into
\nLondon, with a visit to Westminster Abbey planned to lay a wreath
\nat the Grave of the Unknown Warrior, before heading to the Palace
\nof Westminster, where President Steinmeier will address
\nParliamentarians in the Royal Gallery and meet UK government
\nofficials.<\/p>\n

An afternoon of German-UK connection follows, with a reception
\nfor the German community in the United Kingdom at the Embassy, and
\na meeting with German footballers at the Bobby Moore Academy in the
\nQueen Elizabeth Olympic Park.<\/p>\n

Ms. B\u00fcdenbender will travel separately to the Royal Courts of
\nJustice to meet with the Lady Chief Justice to discuss women in
\nlaw.<\/p>\n

The presidential couple will then visit the
\nV&A East Storehouse<\/a> to view items from their collections
\nand learn more about the history of the V&A.<\/p>\n

In the evening, Princess Anne and Sir Tim Laurence will join
\nPresident Steinmeier and Ms. B\u00fcdenbender at a banquet hosted by the
\nLady Mayor of London and the City of London Corporation. Both
\nPresident Steinmeier and the Lady Mayor will deliver speeches.<\/p>\n

The Duke of Kent will play an important role on the final day of
\nthe German State Visit, when he accompanies President Steinmeier
\nand Ms. B\u00fcdenbender to Coventry Cathedral. The presidential couple
\nwill hear about the community\u2019s experiences during the Second World
\nWar and, along with the Duke of Kent, will lay a wreath at the
\nruins of the old cathedral. Afterwards, they will receive a tour of
\nthe new cathedral.<\/p>\n

The presidential couple will then travel to Oxford to visit
\nSiemens Healthineers and the University of Oxford, where President
\nSteinmeier will receive an honorary degree.<\/p>\n

This is the third State Visit King Charles has welcomed into the
\nUnited Kingdom this year. In the summer, the US President
\nofficially visited; and French President Emmanuel Macron visited in
\nSeptember.<\/p>\n


\nKing Charles\u2019s first State Visit abroad<\/a> after ascending to the
\nthrone took place in Germany between 29\u201331 March 2023, and he
\nbecame the first British monarch to address the Bundestag.<\/p>\n
