Rachel Sennott served as the host of The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>\u2018s Women in Entertainment gala breakfast on Wednesday, presented by Lifetime.<\/p>\n During her opening remarks to start the gala, the I Love LA<\/em> creator-star joked about how \u201cyou know you made it as a woman in Hollywood when one of three things happen.\u201d<\/p>\n More from The Hollywood Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWhen people call every photoshoot you do a \u2018humiliation ritual,\u2019 when someone uses AI to make a video of you kissing a sloth from Zootopia<\/em> or when you get asked to speak at a women\u2019s brunch,\u201d Sennott said, later sharing a story about how she accidentally stumbled into a women\u2019s summit for tech and was instantly greeted with support.<\/p>\n \u201cThe other day I had a photoshoot \u2014 sorry I meant a humiliation ritual \u2014 and it was in one of those giant random media buildings. I got out of my car and I see a woman at the door and being the narcissist that I am, immediately thought, \u2018She\u2019s here to greet me,\u2019\u201d she continued. \u201cI was like, \u2018Hi! I\u2019m Rachel!\u2019 She was like \u2018Hi! So nice to meet you! I\u2019ll walk you up!\u2019 So we start walking into the building and we\u2019re just chatting. \u2026 We\u2019re having a fabulous time until we arrive in a boardroom of women in suits. There\u2019s a gorgeous breakfast spread. And I look around and everybody\u2019s got binders. And in my head I\u2019m like, Huh. Not the usual photoshoot set up, but I can totally get into it<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n Sennott described realizing she might be in the wrong place: \u201cSo I turn to her and I\u2019m like, \u2018Is the vibe for the shoot today like risky business?\u2019 And she was like, \u2018Sorry, are you not here for the women\u2019s summit?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd that\u2019s when I realized that I had broken into a women\u2019s summit for women working in tech,\u201d she continued. \u201cObviously I apologized and dipped, but I thought it\u2019s kind of wonderful how women create community and support for everyone, so well that I accidentally wandered into a community that I\u2019m not a part of. Fingers crossed those ladies show up here in like 20 minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s been quite a busy year for Sennott, as her HBO series I Love LA<\/a><\/em> debuted almost exactly a month ago in early November. There, she serves as creator and star of the comedy that tracks \u201can ambitious friend group navigating life and love\u201d in Los Angeles. HBO recently renewed<\/a> I Love LA<\/em> for a second season.<\/p>\n Sennott kicked off a morning of dynamic programming, which included slated speakers<\/a> of Dakota Johnson<\/a>,\u00a0Goldie Hawn<\/a>,\u00a0Regina Hall<\/a>,\u00a0Chase Infiniti<\/a>,\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Molly McNearney<\/a>, while Gwyneth Paltrow received the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Jennifer Lopez was honored with the Equity in Entertainment Award<\/a>. Lopez was presented with the award by Kerry Washington, who received the Equity in Entertainment Award in 2023.<\/p>\n In attendance on Wednesday were roughly 30 high school juniors and seniors who are participants in THR<\/em>\u2019s Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program, which matches young women from underserved schools in L.A. with trailblazing female executives in film and TV.<\/p>\n The breakfast gala was sponsored by Delta Air Lines, Medicube, Reyka Vodka, Seven Bucks Productions and in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles, Entertainment Industry Foundation, Gersh, Chapman University and Loyola Marymount University.<\/p>\n Best of The Hollywood Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n Sign up for THR’s Newsletter<\/a>.
