A contestant from a once-popular reality dance competition show recently died from cancer.<\/p>\n
Donyelle Denise Wilson<\/a>, a dancer known as Donyelle Jones who appeared on \u201cSo You Think You Can Dance<\/a>,\u201d died Tuesday after fighting cancer for almost a decade.<\/p>\n An announcement was posted to her Instagram<\/a> page Tuesday morning revealing she had \u201ctransitioned.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cToday at 8:34am, Donyelle Denise Wilson, transitioned,\u201d the post read<\/a>. \u201cA wife. A daughter. A sister. A friend. And a warrior who kicked cancer\u2019s ass every single day she was here. Her spirit never dimmed. Her heart never hardened. And even in the storm, she never lost her smile.\u201d<\/p>\n Jones appeared in Season 2 of Fox\u2019s \u201cSo You Think You Can Dance\u201d in 2006. Her hip-hop and jazz dance style thrust her into the spotlight, leading to a third place finish in the competition. <\/p>\n The dancer\u2019s death comes nearly 10 years after she was diagnosed<\/a> with Stage 3C breast cancer in 2016. The cancer later progressed to Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, according to a profile from Dancers Against Cancer<\/a>. <\/p>\n Jones documented her breast cancer journey on social media following her diagnosis.<\/p>\n In one of her final posts, shared in late November<\/a>, Jones said she had done \u201ceverything possible to extend my time in this dimension and at this point I have surrendered to whatever God\u2019s will is.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
