Judge Andrew Napolitano has a dire warning for Pete Hegseth<\/a> after the Secretary of Defense reportedly authorized an attack on alleged drug smugglers back in September. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt gives me no pleasure to say what I\u2019m about to say, because I worked with Pete Hegseth for seven or eight years at Fox News<\/a>,\u201d Napolitano said on Tuesday. \u201cThis is an act of a war crime, ordering survivors who the law requires be rescued instead to be murdered, there\u2019s absolutely no legal basis for it.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cEverybody along the line who did it, from the Secretary of Defense to the admiral to the people who actually pulled the trigger should be prosecuted for a war crime, for killing these two people,\u201d Napolitano said, singling out the \u201ctwo people in the ocean clinging to a burning boat to stay alive.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to the U.S. Department of Defense\u2019s own Law of War Manual,<\/a> it states that \u201corders to fire upon the shipwrecked would be clearly illegal.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Napolitano added that the issue is now \u201cgetting beyond politics\u201d and that \u201cthe killing is out of hand.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In a statement shared on X<\/a> last week, Hegseth said the \u201cdeclared intent is to stop lethal drugs, destroy narco-boats, and kill the narco-terrorists.\u201d He also referred to the Post\u2019s account of events as \u201cfabricated, inflammatory, and derogatory.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
