The President of Germany has paid a private visit to the tomb of
\nQueen Elizabeth II as the second day of his State Visit got under
\nway.<\/p>\n
Frank-Walter Steinmeier left flowers on the grave in the King
\nGeorge VI Chapel inside St. George\u2019s Chapel during a time of
\nreflection there with his wife, Elke Budenbender.<\/p>\n
The tomb is rarely photographed and is usually only seen up
\nclose by visitors to St. George\u2019s Chapel.<\/p>\n
It has become usual, too, for visiting Heads of State to pay
\ntheir own tributes there. In July, President Emmanuel Macron of
\nFrance laid flowers there and in September, US leader Donald Trump,
\nalso made a private visit to put a wreath on the tomb.<\/p>\n
The tribute from President Steinmeier came after a successful
\nstart to his State Visit which is being hosted by King Charles and
\nQueen Camilla at Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\nThe German President was given a ceremonial welcome which saw
\nhim enjoy a carriage ride, in the Irish State Coach, though Windsor
\nto the castle, accompanied by The King.<\/p>\n
The Queen and Elke Budenbender followed in the Australian State
\nCoach which had earlier been spotted in Windsor during rehearsals
\ncarried out by the military who put on such a spectacular show
\nduring the opening day.<\/p>\n
Inside Windsor Castle, President Steinmeier inspected a Guard of
\nHonour before being welcomed to lunch by the Royal Family. They all
\nlater enjoyed a tour of artefacts from the Royal Collection linked
\nto Germany.<\/p>\n
The State Banquet in the evening saw a host of famous German
\nfaces, including model Claudia Schiffer, join The King and Queen as
\nwell as the German leader and his wife.<\/p>\n
The Royal Family, including the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh
\nand the Princess Royal, were present.<\/p>\n
