(WKRN) \u2014 In its <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.boringcompany.com\/blogdec2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first written blog post<\/a><\/strong> since <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.boringcompany.com\/blogoct2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oct. 1<\/a><\/strong>, The Boring Company shared progress made on its Music City Loop project \u2014 including an additional proposed connector.<\/p>\n<p>In July, TBC and state officials gathered to <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/news\/local-news\/nashville\/elon-musk-tunnel-bna-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announce<\/a><\/strong> plans for the project, which seeks to connect the Nashville International Airport with the city\u2019s downtown core. The loop\u2019s <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/news\/local-news\/nashville\/proposed-music-city-loop-route-features-stops-at-music-city-center-state-capitol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">proposed route<\/a><\/strong> features stops at the State Capitol building as well as the Music City Center.<\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n\t<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/news\/local-news\/nashville\/tbc-update-nov-24-2025\/?ipid=promo-link-block1\" class=\"promo-link__link\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\"><br \/>\n\t\t<b>PREVIOUS | As the Music City Loop advances, The Boring Company floats more plans in Nashville<\/b>\t<\/a><br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>On Monday, TBC mentioned the company \u201crecently announced the planned Broadway expansion\u201d that would extend from Lower <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/news\/local-news\/nashville\/tbc-eyes-broadway-stops-music-city-loop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Broadway<\/a><\/strong> along West End Avenue past Centennial Park and <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/news\/local-news\/nashville\/tbc-work-raises-questions-west-nashville\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vanderbilt University<\/a><\/strong> before ending near Interstate 440. They released the following map of each route:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">(Courtesy: The Boring Company)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cTBC continues to evaluate additional expansion opportunities, identifying routes most useful to the Nashville community,\u201d the Dec. 1 blog post reads, in part.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Davis, TBC CEO, mentioned in a Nov. 24 <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/boringcompany\/status\/1993077242940076240?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">X space<\/a><\/strong> the company\u2019s commitment to an alignment along Broadway \u2014 though he declined to call it a formal announcement at the time.<\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n\t<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/news\/local-news\/nashville\/tbc-nashville-knoxville-hyperloop\/?ipid=promo-link-block2\" class=\"promo-link__link\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\"><br \/>\n\t\t<b> RELATED | What about a hyperloop between Nashville and Knoxville? What The Boring Company and an engineer has to say<\/b>\t<\/a><br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhat we\u2019re also looking to do, and I don\u2019t want to call this like a formal announcement \u2014 it isn\u2019t formal yet \u2014 we\u2019re still working with a lot of people on it,\u201d Davis said in the social media space. \u201cBut we are officially committed as a company \u2014 assuming the community wants it \u2014 to also add another two miles of alignment, which is four miles of tunnel because it\u2019s a twin tunnel to go down Broadway, which would be amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Additionally, TBC\u2019s Monday blog post addressed other progress that had been made since October, including completion of digging and support work for the launch pit and the arrival of Prufrock-MB1 \u2014 TBC\u2019s <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/news\/local-news\/nashville\/music-city-loop-new-equipment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first tunnel boring machine<\/a><\/strong> in Nashville. TBC did not provide a timeline for tunneling to begin, but offered a \u201cbest guess\u201d of January in Monday\u2019s blog post.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-seven of the 45 separate permits and approvals needed for the project had been secured by the Dec. 1 blog post, with another 10 under review. The other eight permits, TBC said, relate to launch sites that would be part of completing both the BNA and Broadway alignments.<\/p>\n<p>Monday\u2019s blog post also addressed some concerns related to the environmental impact of tunneling, <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/news\/local-news\/nashville\/nov-2025-update-music-city-loop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">safety concerns<\/a><\/strong> at TBC\u2019s construction sites. The company claimed there have been zero safety incidents, injuries or other safety issues at the site. TBC responded to articles about inadequate personal protective equipment, claiming that in a video audit TBC employees always wore PPE. In eight instances where contractors did not wear PPE, the company said they were removed from the site.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n\t<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/tag\/music-city-loop\/?ipid=promo-link-block3\" class=\"promo-link__link\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\"><br \/>\n\t\t<b>Find all of News 2\u2019s previous coverage on the Music City Loop here<\/b>\t<\/a><br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>TBC also responded to articles alleging inadequate wooden shoring at the construction site by saying that they\u2019ve implemented industry standard soldier piles and lagging that \u201cwere designed with high margins by Tennessee licensed structural engineers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to safety concerns regarding emergencies inside the tunnel,  TBC said they had met with the Nashville Fire Department to share project information and discuss emergency response planning during construction. News 2 has reached out to NFD to confirm the meeting(s) and learn more about these safety discussions. Additionally, TBC has met with the Tennessee Mine Rescue Association for emergency preparedness.<\/p>\n<p>An independent environmental impact assessment and a separate review by a third-party evaluator of that assessment will be published to the Music City Loop website no later than Dec. 15, the blog post said. That assessment evaluated everything from noise and vibration to air quality. News 2 <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/news\/local-news\/nashville\/music-city-loop-blasting-concerns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">previously reported<\/a><\/strong> that blasting possibly related to the project concerned some area residents and workers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<p style=\"font-size:24px\"><strong>\u23e9\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/?ipid=newsbreak-lower-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Read today\u2019s top stories on wkrn.com<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In October, TBC <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/news\/local-news\/nashville\/tbc-metro-council\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a><\/strong> News 2 they had corresponded with \u201cmost of Metro Council members individually.\u201d December\u2019s blog post said the company \u201chas conducted direct meetings with &gt;20 members of Metro Council, representing more than half of the Council.\u201d TBC also said their leadership team is \u201ceager to meet with anyone interested in learning more about Music City Loop.\u201d The blog referenced <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkrn.com\/news\/local-news\/nashville\/elon-musk-the-boring-company-hosts-hiring-event-for-music-city-loop-project-in-nashville\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hiring events<\/a><\/strong> and dozens of in-person volunteer events as other outreach efforts that had happened since October.<\/p>\n<p>News 2 has reached out to TBC for more information on the Broadway alignment.
