EXCLUSIVE<\/strong>: Producers Andrea Bucko (Deadman\u2019s Wire<\/em>) and Motoko Kimura (LDK<\/em>) have launched film and TV production and finance company Yume Entertainment, which will look to bridge the Hollywood and Asian film industries.<\/p>\n Yume\u00a0(\u7531\u5922), meaning \u201cborn from a dream\u201d in Japanese, will look to champion emerging creators such as Yumiko Fujiwara, whose drama\u00a0The Fire Outside<\/em>\u00a0was featured on the 2021 Black List.\u00a0The company\u00a0is making its debut by developing and producing Fujiwara\u2019s next film\u00a0The Red Room,<\/em>\u00a0inspired by the notorious Japanese urban legend of early internet culture.<\/p>\n More from Deadline<\/strong><\/p>\n The Red Room\u00a0<\/em>follows a mysterious disappearance in the late 1990s after a cursed computer pop-up appears at a teenage sleepover. Two decades later, the past reawakens when an email from the missing girl triggers the same sinister pop-up, pulling her childhood friends into a corrupted corner of the internet\u2014and into the heart of Japan\u2019s most chilling digital myth. CAA Media Finance will handle North American rights to the film.<\/p>\n Yume\u00a0also has an upcoming project with U.S. publisher Dark Horse Comics, whose franchises have included Hellboy<\/em> and The<\/em> Umbrella Academy<\/em>, and is in development on Japanese IPs in partnership with companies including Shogakukan and Gentosha.<\/p>\n U.S. producer Bucko, whose credits as producer include Gus Van Sant\u2019s Deadman\u2019s Wire<\/em>, starry comedy-sci fi\u00a0Alpha Gang<\/em>, and Werner Herzog\u2019s upcoming\u00a0Bucking Fastard<\/em>, was an exec producer on box office hit Longlegs<\/em>. She produces under her own banner, Sugar Rush Pictures, and is also the co-founder of Raised by Wolves, a development fund and finance company from herself and Jordan Claire Robbins.<\/p>\n Motoko Kimura is a film, TV, and theater producer as well as a published author.
