CBS has renewed two spinoff series. <\/p>\n

The \u201cBlue Bloods\u201d offshoot, \u201cBoston Blue,\u201d<\/b> and the \u201cFire Country\u201d spinoff, \u201cSheriff Country,\u201d<\/b> are both getting a second season.<\/p>\n

President of CBS Entertainment Amy Reisenbach celebrated the news in a Wednesday, Dec. 3, statement. <\/p>\n

\u201cTwo new shows on Friday night have become instant hits with audiences quickly embracing Boston Blue and Sheriff Country across broadcast and streaming,\u201d Reisenbach said. \u201cThese early renewals reflect the power of character-driven storytelling, compelling narratives and the exceptional talent on both sides of the camera that make these series truly stand out.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to a CBS press release, \u201cBoston Blue\u201d averages 8 million viewers, while \u201cSheriff Country\u201d averages 7.6 million viewers. Both of the new series premiered on Oct. 17 and have \u201cwon every Friday night in total viewers\u201d since then. The renewal announcements come after only six episodes of each show have aired. <\/p>\n

Donnie Wahlberg stars in \u201cBoston Blue\u201d as Detective Danny Reagan, a role he previously played on all 14 seasons of \u201cBlue Bloods.\u201d He is the only alum from the original series who carried over to the main cast of \u201cBoston Blue,\u201d but Bridget Moynahan (Erin Reagan) and Marisa Ramirez (Maria Baez) have both made guest appearances.<\/p>\n

Danny\u2019s son, Sean, is also a main character on \u201cBoston Blue,\u201d but he was recast. Mika Amonsen plays Sean in the spinoff, while Andrew Terraciano originated the role in \u201cBlue Bloods.\u201d <\/p>\n

Showrunner Brandon Margolis told TVLine<\/a> in October that replacing Terraciano was a creative decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all, we love Andrew\u2019s work from the original series and loved watching him grow up on TV. But once we realized we were telling a very new chapter in this character\u2019s life, creatively it made sense to find an actor with a different energy,\u201d Margolis explained. \u201cMika\u2019s performance calls back to Sean\u2019s vulnerabilities, but he brings a youthful energy that takes the character in a new direction we loved.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSheriff Country,\u201d meanwhile, stars Morena Baccarin stars as Mickey Fox, the stepsister of Fire Country\u2019s Sharon Leone (Diane Farr). Baccarin has made a handful of appearances as Mickey on \u201cFire Country,\u201d while Farr guest starred on one episode of \u201cSheriff Country.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSheriff Country\u201d airs on CBS on Fridays at 8 p.m. ET, followed by \u201cFire Country\u201d at 9 p.m. ET and \u201cBoston Blue\u201d at 10 p.m. ET. Past episodes of all three series are <\/b><\/i>available to stream on Paramount+<\/b><\/i><\/a>.<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n
