Hollywood<\/a> icon Michael Caine<\/a> made a rare public appearance this week as he jetted off to Saudi Arabia for the Red Sea Film Festival. The actor, 92, was pictured looking dapper in a black suit with a navy blue striped tie, and was pushed around in a wheelchair as he made his way up on stage to give a speech.<\/p>\n Vin Diesel was the one to wheel Michael along the red carpet for the Middle East premiere of Giant, produced by Sylvester Stallone and starring Pierce Brosnan<\/a>. Caine was presented with an award at the opening ceremony of the film festival, and was supported by three of his grandchildren as he clutched a mic on stage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He joked: \u201cI\u2019m here to get an award, which doesn\u2019t surprise me. I won two Oscars<\/a>. I have a fabulous family that I adore beyond belief. I\u2019ve had a fairly fabulous movie family, some who\u2019ve let me down, and I love them beyond belief, including the failures.<\/p>\n \u201cI kept going until I was 90, which is two years ago. I\u2019m not going to do anything else<\/a>, I\u2019ve had all the luck I can get.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cAnd one of the luckiest things is tonight. I\u2019m just so happy to be here. I\u2019ve seen it on television but never won anything here, so I\u2019m happy. I want to thank you for the surprise, because in show business you don\u2019t get many surprises, you get a couple of shocks and that\u2019s about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Michael was introduced by Vin Diesel, who branded him \u201cone of the best actors who\u2019s ever lived\u201d.<\/p>\n He gushed: \u201cHe\u2019s been somebody that, as Uma Thurman said, could play character roles or main roles, and all the while has more charisma in his finger than most people in Hollywood<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
