It’s one of my favorite traditions: Every December, Knifeplay \u2014 those Philadelphia-based practitioners of slow-burn sonic splendor \u2014 re-release their Christmas EP on Bandcamp with one new song added, then it disappears from the internet again when the holiday season wraps up, like a trio of ghosts that visited you in the night. They’ve done originals, like last year’s “Old Time Christmas<\/a>.” They’ve done covers, like Counting Crows’ “A Long December<\/a>” in 2023. Today, they’ve tackled a traditional.<\/p>\n

For The Holidays<\/em> is back online today, once again with 100% of proceeds going to the Philadelphia charity Broad Street Love. This time TJ Strohmer and friends have added one of the most familiar yuletide tunes of all, “Silent Night.” It’s as reverently pretty as you’d expect. Hear it below, along with all the rest of For The Holidays<\/em>, while you still can, or buy it so you can enjoy it forever.<\/p>\n
