Former political journalist Olivia Nuzzi\u2019s tenure at Vanity Fair has come to an end, a year after reports of her alleged relationship with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. upended her career. <\/p>\n
Vanity Fair and a spokesperson for \u201cAmerican Canto\u201d author<\/a> Nuzzi said in a joint statement shared Friday that they \u201cmutually agreed, in the best interest of the magazine, to let her contract expire at the end of the year.\u201d Vanity Fair appointed<\/a> Nuzzi its West Coast editor in September. <\/p>\n Prior to Vanity Fair, Nuzzi was a Washington correspondent for New York Magazine from 2017 to 2024. Her tenure at the outlet came to a screeching halt after reports<\/a> of her alleged romance with Kennedy, 71, surfaced last year. Nuzzi, 32, profiled<\/a> Kennedy (who is married to \u201cCurb Your Enthusiasm\u201d actor Cheryl Hines) in 2023 amid his presidential campaign. Nuzzi was engaged to former New Yorker<\/a> political journalist Ryan Lizza from 2022 to 2024. <\/p>\n After details of Nuzzi and Kennedy\u2019s alleged affair (the politician has denied his involvement) went viral, New York Magazine told readers in a statement<\/a> that the writer acknowledged she had \u201cengaged in a personal relationship with a former subject.\u201d There was a \u201cviolation of the magazine\u2019s standards around conflicts and disclosures,\u201d the outlet said.<\/p>\n Though the statement said an internal investigation found \u201cno inaccuracies nor evidence of bias,\u201d the magazine placed Nuzzi on leave. \u201cWe regret this violation of our readers\u2019 trust,\u201d the September 2024 statement said. <\/p>\n Nuzzi and New York Magazine officially parted<\/a> ways in October 2024. <\/p>\n
