Billy Bob Thornton plays Sam Elliott\u2019s son on \u201cLandman,\u201d but is he really young enough to be Elliott\u2019s progeny?<\/p>\n
Thornton was born on Aug. 4, 1955, making him 70 years old<\/b>. His TV dad Elliott is only 11 years older than him<\/a> in real life, but he sees no problem with that.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can look through movie history, and fathers or mothers have been close in age [to their children]. It\u2019s just a thing you do because you\u2019re actors portraying someone,\u201d Thornton recently told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>. \u201cIf you put yourself in the right headspace, I would find a way to play Sam\u2019s older brother. They would say, \u2018But wait a minute, you guys are 11 years apart.\u2019 \u2026 But yeah, we never think about that. \u2026 It\u2019s all in the way we portray the characters and [series creator] Taylor [Sheridan\u2019s] vision.\u201d<\/p>\n Thornton has a more realistic age gap with the actors who play his kids on \u201cLandman.\u201d Jacob Lofland (Cooper Norris) and Michelle Randolph (Ainsley Norris) are 29 and 28, respectively, making them both around 40 years younger than Thornton (Tommy Norris). <\/p>\n During a January interview with People<\/a>, Randolph said that Thornton has become a real-life \u201cdad figure\u201d to her.<\/p>\n \u201cI had heard incredible things about him, and so I was excited to meet him, but obviously I\u2019m like, \u2018OK, this is someone I\u2019m going to share a lot of scenes with for a really important show. It\u2019s something I care a lot about. I just hope that we have a good dynamic,\u2019\u201d she recalled. \u201cImmediately, he\u2019s the kindest, most genuine human. The show centers on Thornton\u2019s character, who is a fixer for the fictional oil company M-Tex. The season 2 premiere of \u201cLandman\u201d was the most-watched debut in Paramount+ history. While season 3 has not been officially confirmed, Thornton wants to play Tommy for years to come.<\/p>\n During a November interview with USA Today<\/a>, Thornton said he signed a contract for \u201cfour or five years\u201d and wants to continue with \u201cLandman\u201d for \u201cas long as they\u2019ll have me.\u201d<\/p>\n
