video message<\/a> on Instagram Dec. 5, announcing that he’ll be stepping back from music tours. \u201cThis is my last tour,\u201d he announced to fans.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\nWhile stressing that he’ll \u201cprobably do shows and festivals\u201d in the future, he reiterated that \u201cas far as getting on the road for months at a time, living on a tour bus, this is it.\u201d Looking back on his experience going on lengthy music tours, Lecrae remarked, \u201cIt\u2019s not bittersweet, it\u2019s just sweet.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWho gets to go from city to city to city, encouraging people, sharing your heart, sharing your faith, and then say, \u2018all right, y\u2019all, I got to go be a husband and a dad?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Lecrae assured his fans that he’s \u201cnot disappearing\u201d and plans to \u201cstill make music,\u201d but stressed that fatherhood has changed his priorities.<\/p>\n
\u201cTwenty years I\u2019ve been sleeping in a coffin for months at a time on a bus, jumping up and down on my knees, missing games, having to deal with parenting on the phone and FaceTime and having these incredible experiences that I don\u2019t get to share with my family.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cInteraction with the people has been phenomenal,\u201d Lecrae told his fans, while expressing his appreciation for their loyalty. The rapper specifically highlighted fans he met who watched one of his performances in Germany in 2017 and are now scheduled to watch him perform in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve seen people whose first concert of mine was when they were 11 years old, and now they\u2019re 25. I\u2019ve seen people whose parents took them to a show, and now they\u2019re introducing me to their kids. It\u2019s mind-blowing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lecrae also looked back on his experience getting into his car and driving around Texas, \u201cpassing out fliers on the street, telling people to come inside so they could hear a concert.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything has to stop at some point,\u201d he added. \u201cI can\u2019t be a good executive, a good leader at the Reach Records offices if I\u2019m always on the road. When you helped establish a company, that\u2019s a legacy for people.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cI\u2019m not going anywhere. As far as shows are concerned, it\u2019d be far and few in between. If you see me pop up at a festival or something, you might want to go!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m glad to have been a part of something amazing,\u201d he concluded. \u201cI pray that my brothers and sisters keep carrying the mantle.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lecrae kept the door open to going on smaller tours with \u201cfive cities,\u201d but ruled out doing larger tours with 20 cities.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In a caption accompanying the video, Lecrae provided additional details about why he was stepping back: \u201cSeasons change. And right now, God is inviting me to slow down, to pour more into my family, my marriage, my calling as a mentor and leader. That means stepping away from long stretches on the road. This isn\u2019t retirement. My voice and my heart are still very much alive. I just won\u2019t be gone for weeks and months at a time anymore. Thank you for letting me be part of your lives. You\u2019ve shaped me more than you know.\u201d<\/p>\n
About a week remains in Lecrae\u2019s \u201cReconstruction\u201d world tour<\/a>. The remaining stops are all overseas in Australia and Oceania.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n
