Leonardo DiCaprio has been one of Hollywood’s top stars for nearly three decades and might rank among the all-time movie heartthrobs. Yet even DiCaprio has not been immune to feeling starstruck.<\/p>\n
In a new interview with TIME<\/a>–which named DiCaprio its Entertainer of the Year–the Killers of the Flower Moon star revealed that two actresses left him in awe early in his career.<\/p>\n 1996 was a big year for DiCaprio. After making his name in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? (1993) and 1995’s The Basketball Diaries, he had major roles in a pair of 1996 films, Romeo + Juliet and Marvin’s Room.<\/p>\n In the latter, DiCaprio played a 17-year-old boy named Hank. Meryl Streep played his mother, Lee, and Diane Keaton portrayed Bessie, Lee’s sister and Hank’s aunt.<\/p>\n According to TIME, DiCaprio was ”\u00a0awed by” both Streep and Keaton, but he “loved Keaton especially.”<\/p>\n As for why Leo was particularly Fond of Keaton, he told TIME the Annie Hall star’s sense of humor and laugh stood out.<\/p>\n \u201cShe had the most incredible laugh,\u201d DiCaprio said. \u201cIt would echo through the entire set, and she made you feel like the funniest person in the world. I mean, burst-out-loud laughing. I\u2019ll never forget it. I kind of lived to make her laugh every day on set, because it was so infectious. She was incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n Keaton died on Oct. 11 of this year at the age of 79, with her family citing pneumonia <\/a>as the cause of death.<\/p>\n A Hollywood icon, Keaton was immediately memorialized by many of her constituents, including DiCaprio.<\/p>\n “Diane Keaton was one of a kind. Brilliant, funny, and unapologetically herself,” the Titanic star wrote on his Instagram stories. “A legend, and icon, and a truly kind human being. I had the honor of working with her at 18.
