I try to let this seep into how I spend literally all my time.<\/p>\n<section data-embed=\"recirculation\" data-lazy-id=\"P0-14\" data-node-id=\"5\" class=\"embed\"\/>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"6\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"6.0\">I found that battle cry within myself,<\/strong> knowing that it is an echo of centuries and centuries of women that have needed to pick each other up.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"7\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"7.0\">A real core-base activation piece for me<\/strong> was reading <em data-node-id=\"7.2\">The Chronology of Water<\/em> when I was a lot younger, in a time where I was in service of other people\u2019s stories as an actor. Even though I\u2019ve been lucky enough to make work that feels like it has a sense of freedom, I\u2019ve worked in an industry for a long time that definitely does not uplift.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"8\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"8.0\">There are reasons why people<\/strong> have a hard time articulating certain things. There\u2019s no room for it, or it\u2019s not encouraged, or it\u2019s steeped in shame or embarrassment. It\u2019s tough to be anyone trying to find their own voice.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"9\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"9.0\">Those screaming voices <\/strong>that you keep blocked up in your body feel a lot better when they come out. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"10\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"10.0\">I\u2019m really ruminating on <\/strong>system breakage lately. My <em data-node-id=\"10.2\">own<\/em> systems. All that fun stuff that comes with seeing reality breaking all around us. You realize it\u2019s up for grabs. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"11\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"11.0\">\u201cNo passion is darkness.\u201d<\/strong> That\u2019s what Pablo Larra\u00edn said. He directed me in <em data-node-id=\"11.2\">Spencer<\/em> and helped me blast through some fear on the set of <em data-node-id=\"11.4\">Chronology.<\/em> He helped me make a disruptive but ultimately lifesaving decision. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"12\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"12.0\">\u201cMaking a movie is an act of love\u201d<\/strong> is another thing he told me. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"13\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"13.0\">All memories are so physical.<\/strong> It\u2019s kind of cool, and it\u2019s a bit daunting to know that the things that happen to you will never really be processed out of your body. They get to live in you.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"14\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"14.0\">I can roll with the punches<\/strong> but also not be somebody who casually lets people that I love and care about off the hook. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"15\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"15.0\">What have I learned from married life?<\/strong> Power in numbers.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"16\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"16.0\">It\u2019s so nice to have a family. <\/strong>It\u2019s so nice to not be an unmoored individual. Dylan came into my life and I immediately was like, \u201cIt\u2019s so important to handpick and curate the people that surround you.\u201d Dylan just does not suffer fools. I may not always seem like it, but I really am kind of a \u201cnice guy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"17\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"17.0\">It\u2019s just bolstering to be<\/strong> with someone that reminds you that your life is in your hands. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"18\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"18.0\">What makes someone attractive?<\/strong> Hunger. And I mean that in every way. When someone wants a lot. Openly. It also means being <em data-node-id=\"18.2\">nice,<\/em> because you just get more with real honey. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"19\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"19.0\">Mean people suck. <\/strong>I can smell it. So gross.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"20\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"20.0\">A big thing that makes me happy<\/strong> is reading out loud with my wife and pets. <em data-node-id=\"20.2\">East of Eden, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter. <\/em>To share them outside of yourself is salve. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"21\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"21.0\">A small thing that makes me happy <\/strong>is waking up before anyone and having an hour or two. I am so <em data-node-id=\"21.2\">with<\/em> people all the time. I\u2019m an Aries, so it\u2019s rare that I\u2019m not in a group. I like to steal time and remind myself to be alone.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"22\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"22.0\">I care about getting better at playing golf.<\/strong> But that is a lifelong and kind of yo-yo experience. Sometimes I\u2019m absolutely incredible, and other times it\u2019s like I\u2019ve never hit a ball in my life.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"23\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"23.0\">Party tricks: I can juggle.<\/strong> I can blow a really good smoke ring. I can roll a really mean joint\u2014fast.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"24\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"24.0\">There is a sort of oppressive <\/strong>and stifling experience that women have at the energetic hands of a lot of different men. But it is absolutely <em data-node-id=\"24.2\">not<\/em> everyone.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"25\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"25.0\">I have one biological brother,<\/strong> but I\u2019ve grown up with just a slew of lovely and sweet but bamboozling young men. I will always be able to laugh at the kind of enraging and infuriating unawareness that boys are all about. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"26\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><strong data-node-id=\"26.0\">I feel my absolute best <\/strong>around guys that I could say anything to. I want to be homies; I want to be friends.
