In a recent <\/span>interview<\/span><\/a>, Centennial Yards Company president Brian McGowan predicted the downtown megaproject he\u2019s overseeing will emerge in coming years as the \u201cTimes Square of the South.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Helping that cause, perhaps, is the rising district\u2019s newest signing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Officials with Centennial Yards developer CIM Group announced today\u2014<\/span>slaint\u00e9<\/span><\/em>!\u2014they\u2019ve signed a lease for the first location outside New York City for a pub called The Irish Exit, a concept by the Big Apple\u2019s award-winning The Dead Rabbit Group.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For its second location, The Irish Exit will claim a relatively large, 4,735-square-foot spot in Centennial Yards\u2019 under-construction Entertainment District, envisioned as the project\u2019s retail, dining, and hotel heartbeat across the street from Atlanta\u2019s main sports stadiums. (For context, Park Tavern\u2019s interiors and patios on Piedmont Park span about 5,700 square feet.)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond roomy interiors, The Irish Exit\u2019s blueprints call for garage-style doors to create a flexible indoor-outdoor layout and \u201c<\/span>vibrant, street-level experience that amplifies the district\u2019s momentum,\u201d per a CIM Group announcement today.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In Manhattan, The Irish Exit opened its all-day food-and-drink location in 2023 near the center of Penn Station, considered the busiest transit hub in North America. Parent concept The Dead Rabbit, located in Manhattan\u2019s Financial District, has twice been <\/span>named<\/span><\/a> the world\u2019s best bar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That company\u2019s decision \u201c<\/span>to plant roots in Atlanta speaks volumes about the city\u2019s rising stature as a cultural and entertainment destination,\u201d added McGowan, of Centennial Yards Company.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>Entertainment District at Centennial Yards\u2014set to span roughly 470,000 square feet\u2014is aiming to debut as a culinary and social hub in time for 2026 FIFA World Cup matches downtown, beginning in June. It\u2019s a central component of the 50-acre redevelopment expected to cost at least $5 billion and add several city blocks, with assistance from a record City of Atlanta tax incentives package.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Plans also call for roughly 2,000 new residences eventually.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Irish Exit will join a growing roster of Centennial Yards tenants that includes Live Nation and <\/span>Cosm<\/span><\/a> entertainment venues, Khao Thai Isan (a local concept from 26 Thai), and fast-casual chain Shake Shack.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
