Royal Oak City Manager Joseph Gacioch Departs after Less than a Year<\/p>\n

Royal Oak, MI \u2013 Royal Oak City Manager Joseph Gacioch\u2019s departure as the city\u2019s administrator was announced at the Dec. 8, 2025 City Commission meeting.<\/p>\n

It is unclear why the administrator is leaving this position after less than one year. Prior to serving in Royal Oak, Gacioch was City Manager of neighboring Ferndale.<\/p>\n

The City is not releasing details, and the Commission\u2019s vote was simply \u201cto end the employment agreement.\u201d This passed unanimously.<\/p>\n

A press release from the City of Royal Oak states \u201cThe City of Royal Oak announced Tuesday that Joseph Gacioch will no longer serve as the organization\u2019s City Manager. City leaders said that they appreciate the contributions Gacioch made during his tenure and they wish him the best in his future endeavors.<\/p>\n

To deliver a seamless process throughout the transition, an interim leadership team was unanimously approved at Monday\u2019s City Commission meeting. City Attorney Niccolas Grochowski will serve as Interim City Manager, and Police Chief Michael Moore will serve as Interim Deputy City Manager alongside Deputy City Manager Susan Barkman.\n<\/p>\n

The City looks forward to a smooth transition and remains committed to its mission of delivering the highest-level services to its residents, businesses, and visitors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oakland County Times reached out to Gacioch, but he has not returned our request for comment. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.<\/p>\n
