Trisha Yearwood<\/a><\/strong> is paying tribute to a music<\/a> legend.<\/p>\n In a heartfelt new social media post, the country songstress spoke out to mourn the late lead singer and co-founder of The Mavericks, Raul Malo<\/a><\/strong>, who died on Monday, Dec. 8 at the age of 60.<\/p>\n \ud83c\udfacSIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox<\/strong><\/a>\ud83c\udfac<\/p>\n Taking to Instagram<\/a> after Malo’s family<\/a>confirmed the news of his death on Tuesday, Dec. 9, Yearwood shared a black-and-white photo of the late musician, writing, “I don’t have words to express my sadness at the passing of Raul Malo.”<\/p>\n She went on to declare the “Dance the Night Away” singer as “one of the finest voices of our generation, with a larger than life<\/a> personality to go with it.”<\/p>\n Her post continued: “I\u2019ve been sitting with my memories this morning<\/a>, and just want to send my love and strength to [his wife] Betty<\/strong> and the Malo family, to The Mavericks, and to everyone who loved Raul and his music.”<\/p>\n Yearwood previously collaborated with Malo and The Mavericks on a rendition of the C. Carson Parks<\/strong> song “Somethin’ Stupid.” It was released as part of the band’s 1995 album, Music for All Occasions.<\/p>\n At the time, Yearwood was married to Malo’s bandmate, bassist Robert Reynolds<\/strong>. They were married for five years before divorcing in 1999.<\/p>\n Concluding her emotional message on Tuesday, Yearwood wrote, “Gone too soon \ud83d\udc94”<\/p>\n “Sending you our love. We know you were very close to the band at one time,” one of her fans wrote in support under the post.<\/p>\n Another person wrote, “I have such vivid memories of you joining The Mavericks on stage at the House of Blues in Hollywood to sing ‘Something Stupid’ – you and Raul made musical magic that evening.”<\/p>\n “I loved your duet with him from so long ago,” someone else added. “When I heard he passed away, one of the first people I thought of was you.
