Would you watch an AI television series?<\/p>\n
Tom Paton, the creator of the new AI-generated reality series \u201cNon Player Combat,\u201d thinks many viewers will be quick to accept the futuristic project. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe question is, do you actually care that it\u2019s AI if you\u2019re entertained? I doubt it, and that\u2019s all that counts,\u201d Paton said in a press release shared with People<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cNon Player Combat\u201d is the first reality series based on a completely AI-generated premise. It features six AI contestants as they compete to survive in a dystopian setting. Described as a mix of \u201cFortnite,\u201d \u201cThe Hunger Games\u201d and \u201cThe Traitors,\u201d<\/a> the reality series forces contestants to battle deadly creatures including polar bears and poisonous snakes. <\/p>\n \u201cNon Player Combat contestants aren\u2019t performing for the camera, so in many ways they feel more genuine than your average human reality TV contestant,\u201d Paton said.<\/p>\n Although the contestants aren\u2019t human, Paton says they have intricate backstories.<\/p>\n \u201cIt all means nothing unless you care about the players. If the audience doesn\u2019t fall in love with the characters, then it\u2019s pointless,\u201d Paton said.<\/p>\n The four-part series debuted on YouTube<\/a> and AiMation on Monday, Dec. 8. It was created using AiMation\u2019s in-house tool, Omnigen-01. In September, Whoopi Goldberg criticized the creation of AI actress Tilly Norwood. <\/p>\n \u201cThe problem with this, in my humble opinion, is that you are suddenly up against something that\u2019s been generated with 5,000 other actors.
