Season 1 of The Pitt\u201d hinted at some major cast exits<\/a>. So, is Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball) returning for season 2?<\/p>\n Warning: Spoilers ahead for season 1 of \u201cThe Pitt.\u201d <\/b><\/i><\/p>\n Langdon, a senior resident at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, was caught stealing prescription painkillers and benzodiazepines during season 1. Dr. Michael \u201cRobby\u201d Robinavitch (Noah Wyle<\/a>), the Head of the Emergency Department, dismissed Langdon, but his medical career isn\u2019t over.<\/p>\n Season 2 of \u201cThe Pitt,\u201d which is set to premiere on Jan. 8, 2026, takes place 10 months after the season 1 finale. Episode 1 marks Langdon\u2019s first day back in the emergency room after completing a 10-month stint in rehab.<\/p>\n During an interview with Entertainment Weekly<\/a> published on Tuesday, Dec. 9, Ball teased what \u201cThe Pitt\u201d viewers can expect from Langdon in season 2. <\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s been forced to grow up in a lot of ways over these last 10 months,\u201d he said. \u201cHe\u2019s stepping back into this workplace of much trauma and much baggage. He\u2019s having to look his mentor Robby in the eye after having said some pretty nasty things to him \u2014 out of desperation, I think \u2014 at the end of season 1.\u201d<\/p>\n While begging Robby for another chance during \u201cThe Pitt\u201d season 1 finale, Langdon brought up Robby\u2019s recent panic attack. Robby suffers from PTSD due to the overwhelming loss he witnessed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the death of his mentor.<\/p>\n \u201cI never had a complete meltdown. Someone saw you in [pediatrics],\u201d Langdon said, suggesting that Robby\u2019s PTSD made him unfit to practice medicine. Ball told EW that Langdon and Robby are due for a \u201cvery, very big conversation\u201d in season 2, one that Robby would rather not have.<\/p>\n Like the first installment, season 2 of \u201cThe Pitt\u201d takes place over the course of a single emergency room shift. It\u2019s Fourth of July weekend, and it\u2019s Robby\u2019s last day before a three-month sabbatical. <\/p>\n \u201cRobby was kind of hoping that Langdon wasn\u2019t gonna be back before he left,\u201d showrunner R. Scott Gemmill told Entertainment Weekly.<\/p>\n Season 1 of \u201cThe Pitt\u201d also suggested that nurse Dana Evans (Katherine LaNasa) might be hanging up her stethoscope, but LaNasa will be back for season 2. Wyle, who also serves as an executive producer on the show, told Deadline<\/a> that Ifeachor\u2019s character was written off for creative reasons<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve all been sort of amused by the speculation about what everybody thinks might be a reason,\u201d Wyle said. \u201cBut truthfully, we loved the actress. We enjoyed having her with us very much.
