\t\t<\/p>\n Lili Reinhart<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about her health and revealing what she\u2019s been going through.<\/p>\n The 29-year-old Riverdale<\/em> star has confirmed she underwent surgery last week and was diagnosed with endometriosis, a disorder that causes tissue that normally lines the uterus to grow outside of it. However, the path to getting there was long and required advocating for herself.<\/p>\n She\u2019s now telling her story.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Lili <\/strong>shared on Instagram<\/a>, \u201cLast week, I was officially diagnosed with endometriosis following laparoscopic surgery. Last year, I saw a urogynecologist and was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis<\/a>. I was told there was no cure\u2014and no lasting relief\u2014for my symptoms. Three hospital visits. Multiple urologists and gynecologists. And not one of them seriously considered endometriosis as the underlying cause of what I was experiencing.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cIt wasn\u2019t until I worked with two different pelvic floor therapists that the word endometriosis was even mentioned to me as a possible source of my pain. I pushed for an MRI on my own, which led to a diagnosis of adenomyosis. From there, I met with an endometriosis specialist who helped me decide that laparoscopic surgery was the next step I wanted to take\u2014while, at the same time, another gynecologist told me I \u2018probably didn\u2019t have endo\u2019 and should just go on the pill.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cI\u2019m glad I trusted my body and listened to my gut and will continue advocating for others to do so. (Endometriosis is an extremely misunderstood disease, leaving often a 4-11 year gap between symptoms and a definitive surgical diagnosis.
