Jim Ward, a prolific voice actor whose work spans Nickelodeon shows \u201cFairly OddParents,\u201d \u201cDanny Phantom\u201d and video games including \u201cRatchet & Clank,\u201d has died. He was 66.<\/p>\n
Ward died Wednesday, his former radio co-host commentator Stephanie Miller announced<\/a>. \u201cOur Good friend, Jim Ward passed away yesterday,\u201d she tweeted<\/a> Thursday. \u201cWe\u2019re going to spend the morning remembering his brilliance.\u201d <\/p>\n She first broke the news Wednesday, informing<\/a> her followers on X (formerly Twitter) of \u201cone of saddest messages I have ever received from the amazing Mrs. Jim Ward.\u201d The voice actor co-hosted and often appeared as a guest on Miller\u2019s eponymous syndicated talk radio program from 2004 to 2021. <\/p>\n Ward\u2019s wife, Janice Ward, confirmed to TMZ<\/a> that he died because of complications from advanced Alzheimer\u2019s disease and was receiving treatment in Los Angeles before his death. <\/p>\n Though Ward often imitated public figures<\/a> on Miller\u2019s show, he is best known for voicing a wide variety of characters, including real estate tycoon Doug Dimmadome<\/a> (the famed owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome) and dogged news anchor Chet Ubetcha on \u201cThe Fairly OddParents.\u201d He also voiced various roles in series \u201cMy Life as a Teenage Robot,\u201d \u201cDanny Phantom,\u201d \u201cBen 10,\u201d \u201cThe Replacements\u201d and dozens of other animated shows. In 2009, he earned a Daytime Emmy for his performance in the revival of \u201cBiker Mice From Mars.\u201d<\/p>\n Butch Hartman, the creator and animator for \u201cFairly OddParents\u201d and \u201cDanny Phantom,\u201d mourned his longtime collaborator on social media. \u201cTo say the voice over world has lost a giant is an understatement,\u201d Hartman said on Instagram<\/a>, hours after Ward\u2019s death. <\/p>\n \u201cRest in peace, dear friend and thank you for blessing us with your incredible talent and charm,\u201d Hartman added. \u201cLove you, brother.\u201d<\/p>\n In the realm of video games, Ward\u2019s voice acting credits were plentiful and ranged from the adventure classic \u201cEscape From Monkey Island\u201d in 2000 to the anti-Nazi shooter \u201cWolfenstein\u201d in 2009 to the western-themed \u201cRed Dead Redemption II\u201d in 2018.
