Leave it to Leslie Jones and menopause to turn \u201cThe View\u201d into a more entertaining program. <\/p>\n
The \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d veteran was halfway through a chat Tuesday with Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and the rest of the \u201cView\u201d crew when she suddenly began to sweat \u2014 visibly. She coped by dabbing at her face with a small navy blue towel that magically appeared from under the table. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re \u2014 you\u2019re hot,\u201d Behar stammered, breaking up a conversation in which she had opined that comics are truth-tellers who undermine propaganda. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m always hot, babe,\u201d Jones replied, continuing her blotting adventure before explaining \u2014 perhaps unnecessarily \u2014 \u201cI\u2019m having that menopause. That pause, that pause.\u201d<\/p>\n
The performer continued. \u201cI am in it,\u201d she said. \u201cI am \u2018pause.\u2019 The heat that comes off of me can light a small city in Guadalajara.\u201d <\/p>\n
Forget that Guadalajara itself is a city, and not a small one. Jones\u2019 deadpan demeanor at that moment prompted Sunny Hostin to begin fanning her with a large notecard. Behar joined in with her own card. <\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s talk about your latest comedy show because it is funny <\/i>and it\u2019s called \u2018Leslie Jones: Life Part 2,\u2019\u201d Hostin said, attempting to get the segment back on track. <\/p>\n
She did not completely succeed. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m spritzing!\u201d Jones said as she once again dabbed her moist face with the magical towel.<\/p>\n
The show played a clip from her special where she talked about everyone needing to go to therapy, after which Hostin steered \u201cThe View\u201d conversation toward dating.<\/p>\n
Then Goldberg stole the spotlight, having left her seat to take over dabbing duties from their guest. \u201cI could die now,\u201d Jones said, holding her hands out, palms up, and looking to the heavens with a peaceful smile as she basked in Whoopi\u2019s careful attention. \u201cThis is a little \u2014 this is a dream. This is a dream come true.\u201d<\/p>\n
At that point, Hostin seemed to give up on talking about guys with Jones and started once again fanning her with the notecard. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhoopi Goldberg wiping my sweat,\u201d Jones declared, relaxing into the experience. <\/p>\n
\u201cYes, it\u2019s a beautiful moment,\u201d Behar snarked.<\/p>\n
Oh, but wait. Hostin was not to be denied. Or perhaps whatever producer was hollering into her earpiece wouldn\u2019t be denied. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou talk a lot about the men you\u2019ve encountered … so tell us, how\u2019s the pool out there?\u201d she asked, not clocking that the audience was far more interested in Whoopi now fanning Jones by waving the magical towel. \u201cHave you found any men,\u201d Hostin wondered, \u201cwho would do that for you?\u201d Fan you? Wipe your sweat?<\/p>\n
\u201cUnfortunately, no,\u201d Jones replied. \u201cListen, I\u2019m 58 now, so I\u2019m past the BS.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re also post-menopausal at 58,\u201d Dr. Behar interjected, revealing herself to be an armchair expert in female endocrinology. \u201cIt should be over by now.\u201d <\/p>\n
Jones turned from her reverie and looked at Behar as if the latter were a bag of dog poop burning on her doorstep. But she did not stomp on the bag to put it out. \u201cIt\u2019s different for everyone,\u201d Alyssa Farah Griffin chimed in cheerfully.<\/p>\n
\u201cHave we got a beef?\u201d Jones asked Behar, looking at her with that stone-faced gaze only Leslie Jones can deliver. <\/p>\n
\u201cNot that I know of?\u201d Behar said. \u201cYou know what, we respectfully disagree.\u201d<\/p>\n
Good to know that Behar thinks Jones isn\u2019t capable of experiencing menopausal symptoms despite Jones experiencing menopausal symptoms right in front of her face. <\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Whoopi stepped up the blotting, offering comforting words to Jones while Behar babbled on in her own defense. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou comin\u2019 at me,\u201d Jones told Behar. <\/p>\n
\u201cLet me get your face,\u201d Whoopi said. <\/p>\n
\u201cThank you, baby,\u201d Jones told her personal sweat-swabber.<\/p>\n
And the conversation turned back to the dating scene, which Jones correctly told Hostin \u201cis not bleak. It\u2019s diabolical.\u201d As she spoke, Whoopi folded the magical towel, laid it down in a magical resting place and backed away, blowing on Jones as she took slow steps toward her abandoned chair. <\/p>\n
\u201cJust blow yourself all over me, babe,\u201d Jones said, and Whoopi stepped back and obliged. Behar, looking uncomfortable, asked someone to grab a hand towel.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s so sad,\u201d Jones said, \u201cthat my whole spot is going to be about me sweating.\u201d<\/p>\n
After a commercial break, Behar had in hand a small electric fan, which she promptly aimed at Jones. \u201cThis one will take care of all your issues.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you, darling. I\u2019m good,\u201d Jones said. \u201cNow I\u2019m freezing.\u201d <\/p>\n
Nah girl. When it came to Joy Behar in that moment, you were just cold.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
