student several years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Documents reviewed by Fox News Digital show Ciara Picard, 39, who taught music at Maloney High School in Meriden, faces five counts of second-degree sexual assault.<\/p>\n<p>The charges are also detailed further in an unsealed arrest warrant, according to\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wtnh.com\/news\/connecticut\/new-haven\/arrest-warrant-details-now-former-meriden-high-school-teachers-alleged-inappropriate-relationship-with-student\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">News 8 Daily News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Records show a police investigation began in response to allegations Picard had a sexual relationship with a male student who has graduated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She first met the student as his teacher when he was 13, according to\u00a0the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>The relationship was said to have become sexual by the time the student reached his junior year.<\/p>\n<p>According to an arrest warrant, a pattern of grooming and inappropriate contact followed.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, now 25 years old, said Picard began grooming him when he was a freshman.<\/p>\n<p>Over time, the communications were said to have become personal and frequent and took place after school hours.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image the student, who was 16 at the time, \u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to kiss you,\u201d before initiating their first kiss.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators said Picard also bought the student expensive dinners and gifts and exchanged\u00a0sexually explicit messages\u00a0and photos with him.<\/p>\n<p>The victim recounted instances in which Picard visited his home after school when his family was not there.<\/p>\n<p>Text messages reviewed by investigators included explicit statements from Picard, including one message that said \u201chow bad she wanted\u201d the victim and the acts she wished to perform.<\/p>\n<p>When detectives interviewed Picard Aug. 26, she initially denied wrongdoing but later admitted that her interactions with the student had \u201cdefinitely crossed the line.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Picard first met the student as his teacher when he was 13. <span class=\"credit\">FOX she loved him, characterizing the relationship as \u201cnot OK.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Picard surrendered to police Dec. 2, was released on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 16, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcconnecticut.com\/news\/local\/former-meriden-teacher-charged-with-sexually-assaulting-student\/3673312\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to\u00a0NBC Connecticut<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>School officials\u00a0tried to reassure the community after the charges were made public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur first priority is always to assure the safety and well-being of our students and staff,\u201d said Assistant Superintendent Louis Bronk, who said Picard resigned from her position in August as the investigation
