\u201cLate Night<\/a>\u201d host Seth Meyers<\/a> on Thursday called out President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s claims that he\u2019s lowering prices, \u201ccrushing\u201d inflation and Americans are getting \u201cbigger paychecks.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIf Trump is right and prices are coming down and you\u2019re getting higher paychecks, you\u2019re probably thinking, \u2018All right, I can buy my kids all the pencils they want this Christmas.\u2019 Well, think again, asshole!\u201d Meyers declared.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Trump, during an \u201caffordability\u201d-themed rally<\/a> this week, remarked on giving up \u201ccertain products\u201d such as pencils before returning to a familiar hit<\/a>: American children can simply learn to live with having fewer toys.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cUnder the China policy, every child can get 37 pencils. They only need one or two, you know. They don\u2019t need that many,\u201d Trump said. \u201cBut you always need, you always need steel. You don\u2019t need 37 dolls for your daughter. Two or three is nice. You don\u2019t need 37 dolls.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Meyers expressed that there\u2019s \u201ca lot to unpack\u201d about the president\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cNot a lot to unwrap, mind you, because it sounds like Christmas is going to suck this year,\u201d Meyers said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He conceded that cutting back on a doll or two could be a \u201cgood way\u201d to cut a household budget.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cBut, and I ask this with genuine curiosity, who the fuck is buying 37 dolls? And since when does China have a 37 pencil policy?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Meyers stressed that Trump\u2019s comments are \u201cout-of-touch.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cTrump\u2019s lecturing everyone else on how they should buy less stuff, meanwhile he\u2019s filled the Oval Office with so much gold<\/a> it\u2019s starting to look like the Egyptian wing at the Louvre,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Watch more of Meyers\u2019 Thursday monologue on \u201cThe Daily Show.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
