LOS ANGELES \u2014 When Bryan Fuller set out to write and direct \u201cDust Bunny,\u201d he wanted to make a movie for the entire family \u2014 especially one that little kids could enjoy, particularly little girls who could identify with Sophie Sloan, who plays Aurora.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would say, parents… See the movie, decide for yourself, but then take your kids because that is who it\u2019s for. It is for children of all ages, but particularly the young ones,\u201d Fuller told Spectrum News.<\/p>\n
In Fuller\u2019s \u201cDust Bunny,\u201d a 10-year-old Aurora joins forces with her hitman neighbor (Mads Mikkelsen) to confront each other\u2019s monsters. When Aurora needs help to kill the monster that she believes ate her entire family, she turns to Mikkelsen for his services. When he takes the job to protect Aurora, he\u2019ll need to battle an onslaught of assassins and accept that some monsters are, in fact, real.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Spectrum News, Mikkelsen praised Sloan for her work in the film.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s a little star,\u201d he said. \u201cOn top of that, she is a kid. It\u2019s the best thing when you work with kids; you tend to forget yourself, and that is always a good sign for an actor when they forget themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

And because the film deals with monsters, Fuller and Mikkelsen shared with Spectrum News what their monsters were growing up.<\/p>\n
For Mikkelsen, he said, \u201cIf it\u2019s anything I have seen on the screen, it has to be the very first original \u2018Frankenstein.\u2019 That was haunting for me as a child, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fuller also went with the universal monster theme and said, the Wolf Man.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat was very unnerving about the Wolf Man is that he had a human presentational face and so the real monsters in our lives often have very human presentational faces, but furry fang beast often saves its true image for our private moments and that\u2019s even more terrifying.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDust Bunny\u201d opens this weekend in theaters. It also stars David Dastmalchian, Rebecca Henderson, Sheila Atim and Sigourney Weaver.<\/p>\n
