Josh Peck<\/strong> <\/a>and Robby Hoffman<\/strong><\/a> have vastly different ideas about a few core aspects of celebrating Hanukkah<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cYou taught me something that is a little bit of a Jewish superstition. It\u2019s not a superstition, but it\u2019s inappropriate to blow out the candles on a menorah,\u201d Peck, 39, told guest Hoffman, 36,<\/a> during a recent episode of his \u201cGood Guys\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cYou were not pleased with me.\u201d<\/p>\n Hoffman stated that \u201cit\u2019s not OK\u201d to ever blow out the candles on a menorah.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s like a Yahrzeit candle,\u201d she said, referring to the traditional 24-hour candle to honor deceased relatives in the Jewish religion. \u201cJust let it go. It\u2019s, like, one person had a candle that burned everything down. You never heard of it again.\u201d<\/p>\n Peck speculated that candles catching on fire probably \u201chappens a lot\u201d because many menorahs are placed in a windowsill next to fabric curtains.<\/p>\n \u201cWe always had the menorah, my mother did on the stove with a lot of tin foil,\u201d Hoffman said. \u201cJust grab some in foil, there\u2019s nothing tin foil can\u2019t do. It\u2019s a to-go box, it\u2019s a tray [or] it\u2019s a cover. There\u2019s nothing it can\u2019t do.\u201d<\/p>\n Peck, for his part, revealed that he\u2019s \u201ca menorah-in-the-sink guy.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIs that nuts?\u201d the Drake & Josh <\/i>alum said. \u201cIt just kind of looks like I\u2019m hiding it \u2018cause you\u2019re supposed to put it in the window.\u201d<\/p>\n Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, takes place every winter and celebrates the rededication of the Temple of Jerusalem by the Maccabees. The holiday \u2014 it starts at sundown on Sunday, December 14, this year \u2014 is often marked by individuals who practice Judaism lighting candles on a menorah for eight consecutive nights.<\/p>\n While Peck\u2019s sink storage may help prevent a fire from breaking out, Hoffman had qualms about the symbolism.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it\u2019s not a great look,\u201d the Hacks <\/i>actress said. \u201cIt feels like you\u2019re washing it down.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>
