Joe Bonamassa Unveils Five New Songs From Star-Studded B.B. King Tribute Album Featuring Slash, Shemekia Copeland, Myles Kennedy, Marcus King, Christone \u201cKingfish\u201d Ingram, Jade MacRae, Robben Ford and Chris Cain<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joe Bonamassa returns today with Vol. IV of B.B. King\u2019s Blues Summit 100<\/a>,<\/strong> unveiling five new songs from the landmark centennial tribute. Out now via KTBA Records, the latest volume continues to widen the project\u2019s reach, pairing fresh arrangements with powerful performances from artists across blues, rock, and soul. The full 32-track album arrives February 6th,<\/strong> with new songs rolling out monthly.<\/p>\n

Producers Bonamassa<\/strong> and Josh Smith<\/strong> were drawn to the standout track \u201cWhen Love Comes to Town\u201d<\/strong> from the beginning. \u201cWe knew early on we wanted to include this U2 song in an effort to span the breadth of B.B.\u2019s entire career,\u201d Smith explains. The arrangement came into focus once they decided that Shemekia Copeland<\/strong> would take on King\u2019s vocal lines. \u201cShe absolutely crushed it,\u201d he said. Smith adds that inviting Myles Kennedy<\/strong> to sing the Bono parts and bringing Slash<\/strong> in on guitar was Joe\u2019s idea, and the result became one of the project\u2019s defining collaborations. \u201cIt turned into such a standout,\u201d he exclaimed, praising the chemistry across all three guests and offering a \u201cshoutout to Alan Hertz for the amazing mix.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t Answer The Door,\u201d<\/strong> featuring Marcus King<\/strong>, carries a deep connection for Smith. \u201cThis song was tracked already thinking about Marcus King,\u201d he says. Years earlier, Marcus had sung the tune unprompted during a jam session with Smith<\/strong> and Kirk Fletcher<\/strong>, a moment that stuck with him. The team recorded the Blues Is King arrangement with that memory in mind, and Smith says he delivered in every way. \u201cHe absolutely slayed it. BB\u2019s vocal is so incredible on the original and Marcus really sang the hell out of it and of course played amazing,\u201d he says. \u201cJust a massive standout.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAin\u2019t Nobody Home,\u201d<\/strong> with Jade MacRae<\/strong> and Robben Ford<\/strong>, highlights Smith\u2019s vision for pairing complementary stylists on material he has always loved. \u201cThis has always been a favorite track of mine,\u201d he says, noting that the team wanted a song where a featured singer and a featured guitarist could each bring something distinct. \u201cWe couldn\u2019t have done any better than Jade and Robben,\u201d Smith adds. He calls MacRae \u201ca tremendous singer and artist\u201d whose performance anchors the track, and says it is an honor to have Ford involved. \u201cHe is one of both Joe and I\u2019s all time favorite players and he played amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christone \u201cKingfish\u201d Ingram<\/strong> brings his fire to \u201cPaying The Cost To Be The Boss,\u201d<\/strong> a song that helped set the tone for the entire project. \u201cThis was the first song we tracked, the first song we pitched and the first artist to deliver,\u201d Smith recalls. He sensed immediately that the tune would resonate with Kingfish, and that instinct proved right. \u201cHe said it was one of his favorites. Kismet,\u201d Smith says. For him, Kingfish represents a vital piece of the blues future. \u201cChristone is one of the most important artists in the blues today,\u201d he adds. \u201cHe absolutely killed this track.\u201d<\/p>\n

This month\u2019s collection closes with \u201cYou Upset Me Baby\u201d<\/strong> featuring Chris Cain,<\/strong> an artist both Smith and Bonamassa deeply admire. \u201cJoe and I both felt it was important to have Chris Cain be a part of this project,\u201d Smith says. \u201cWe knew how much Chris reveres B.B.\u201d Cain delivered a performance that reflects that admiration, combining soulful singing with guitar work that Smith describes as \u201camazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

With Vol. IV, the album\u2019s expanding roster now includes more than thirty guest appearances across the first four installments, featuring artists such as Buddy Guy, Gary Clark Jr., Keb\u2019 Mo\u2019, Warren Haynes, Jimmie Vaughan, Michael McDonald, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Larkin Poe, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Pat Monahan, and Aloe Blacc.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The idea for Blues Summit 100<\/em> took shape when Bonamassa realized that no major centennial tribute had been announced for King\u2019s 100th birthday. With full support from the Estate of B.B. King and The B.B. King Music Company, he and Smith set out to create a wide-ranging celebration of King\u2019s legacy with an intergenerational cast of musicians. Each artist was encouraged to record a song that held specific meaning for them, creating a portrait of King\u2019s influence that connects past and present. Bonamassa has described the project as a mission rooted in deep respect for King\u2019s legacy. \u201cWhen B.B. was alive and active, he was the blues. You only get one shot to do this correctly.\u201d<\/p>\n

B.B. King\u2019s Blues Summit<\/em> 100 will be released digitally, as a double CD, and as a triple LP vinyl (180 gram) set. New tracks will continue to arrive monthly through February 2026.<\/p>\n

The new volume lands as Bonamassa<\/a> continues an active global touring schedule. His 2026 U.S. Spring Tour brings him to theaters and arenas nationwide before he launches a major European run anchored by two nights at London\u2019s Royal Albert Hall.
