Whether seated near Baker\u2019s Kitchen or settled on his favorite park bench, his music brought warmth, joy, and a sense of hometown connection to all who passed by.<\/p>\n New Bern Mayor Jeffrey Odham<\/a> shared a touching tribute on social media, reflecting the sentiments of many who knew Howard\u2014whether personally or simply through his music.<\/p>\n \u201cOur hearts are heavy as we mourn the passing of New Bern\u2019s \u2018Music Man\u2019 Howard Matthews.
