Featuring members of <strong>Blacklisted<\/strong>, the newest venture was produced by Grammy-nominated <strong>Will<\/strong> <strong>Yip<\/strong> (<strong>Scowl<\/strong>, <strong>Title<\/strong> <strong>Fight<\/strong>, <strong>Turnstile<\/strong>), and treads a fine line between rock and grunge. And it isn&#8217;t the band&#8217;s first venture with <strong>Yip<\/strong>, as <strong>Blacklisted<\/strong> were one of the first bands to ever trust Yip to record their work. <\/p>\n<p>Vocalist and lead guitarist <strong>Gee<\/strong> <strong>Hirsch<\/strong> explains to <em>Metal Injection<\/em> a bit more in depth that, &#8220;This was the last song written for the record. Lyrically it\u2019s about the absurdity of depression,&#8221; he starts, &#8220;I wanted to write a song that held a lot of weight musically, because I&#8217;m self conscious my lyrics could outshine the musicianship, which is unfair.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He continues, &#8220;For some reason, the songs ending riff felt like it was screaming out to me, \u201c<em>Tears hold more weight than smiles<\/em>,\u201d so that became the opening and refrain lyric.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As for where the focus around flowers stems from, <strong>Hirsch<\/strong> explains, &#8220;One day at work, I had to remove a volunteer rose bush that grew through razor wire. That\u2019s how the chorus was written.
