L. Paige. The event will be held on Tuesday, January 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Creative Spirit Community Arts Center, located at 6 Raymond Street in Potsdam.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This free, all-ages gathering invites community members to learn about the mural, participate in hands-on art activities, and contribute personal stories that will become part of the final artwork.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the session, attendees will:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Hear a project presentation from mural artist Liza L. L. Paige<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Learn about local bird species from Tom Langen, a regional bird expert<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Create bird feeders and craft Loon collages<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Share personal bird stories to be uniquely incorporated into the mural\u2019s design<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The mural, inspired by the native species of the Raquette River, will be painted on the Potsdam Water Treatment Plant along the Riverwalk, a pathway developed through the Potsdam Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI). This installation will contribute to an emerging arts walk that highlights creative expression and community engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Initial mural development has been made possible through Van Ness Family Funds at the Northern New York Community Foundation. SLC Arts is currently seeking additional funding to bridge the financial gap and ensure that \u201cRoyals of the Raquette\u201d is completed with the highest level of artistic quality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe are grateful for the partnership and vision that is helping shape a unique arts walk along the Raquette,\u201d said Erica Kelso, SLC Arts. \u201cThis mural celebrates the natural life of our river, and we hope the community will join us in shaping its story.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Artist Liza L. L. Paige has completed numerous public murals across the North Country and is widely recognized for her striking large-scale charcoal drawings. Her work often explores natural themes, regional identity, and community storytelling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This community session is free and open to all ages.
