Rob Reiner<\/a> <\/strong>and his wife of 36 years Michele Singer Reiner<\/strong>\u2014who produced the director’s recent sequel Spinal Tap II: The End Continues\u2014were found dead in an apparent homicide at their Los Angeles home<\/a> Dec. 14, a source close to the family confirmed to NBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” his family said in a statement to Variety. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”<\/p>\n

The news sent shockwaves across the film community, with Elijah Wood<\/strong>\u2014who starred in Rob’s 1994 movie North\u2014writing on X (formerly Twitter)<\/a>, “Horrified to hear of the passing of Rob Reiner and his wonderful wife Michelle [sic].”<\/p>\n
