Australian actress Rachael Carpani<\/strong>, known for her work on NCIS: Los Angeles<\/em><\/a>, has died at age 45 following a battle with chronic illness.<\/p>\n

Carpani\u2019s sister Georgia<\/strong> shared a statement from family via Instagram<\/a> on Monday, December 15, announcing her death.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with great sadness that Tony and Gael Carpani announce that their beautiful daughter, beloved Australian actress Rachael Carpani, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness, in the early hours of Sunday 7th December,\u201d the statement read. \u201cThe funeral will be a private event, to be held on Friday 19th December with close family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

The message continued, \u201cThe family requests privacy at this very difficult time and will be making no further statements.\u201d<\/p>\n

Australian TV fans got to know Carpani as Jodi Fountain on the series McLeod\u2019s Daughters.<\/em> She starred on nearly 180 episodes of the drama, which aired for eight seasons from 2001 to 2009.<\/p>\n

Carpani eventually made her way to the U.S. and landed a role on the CBS pilot Law Dogs<\/em> with Janeane Garofalo<\/strong>. The show was not picked up to series.<\/p>\n

In 2009, Carpani found success on NCIS: Los Angeles<\/em> in a small role alongside Chris O\u2019Donnell<\/strong> and LL Cool J<\/strong>. She also appeared in the movie Triangle<\/em> with Liam Hemsworth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Carpani later starred on A&E\u2019s The Glades<\/em> and Lifetime\u2019s Against the Wall<\/em>, as well as several TV movies, including 2015\u2019s If There Be Thorns<\/em> and Seeds of Yesterday<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Carpani joined the Australian hit Home and Away<\/em> as Claudia Salini.<\/p>\n

Months before her death, Carpani celebrated her milestone 45th birthday in August. She joked in an Instagram<\/a> post marking the occasion that she\u2019s \u201calways been suspicious of birthdays,\u201d sharing a throwback photo from her childhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy family and friends had no trouble ignoring me and my \u2018non-birthday\u2019 rule. (I couldn\u2019t wrap my head around having a \u2018celebration\u2019 of anything to do with myself),\u201d Carpani wrote in her lengthy caption. \u201cBut despite existing in this waking nightmare of a world losing its humanity \u2026.. you all reminded me how much we should treasure what we have. \u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f And against the current backdrop, how enormously grateful we should all be, everyday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carpani continued, \u201cThankyou for bringing joy and ridiculous into my world, even for a day or two\u2026didn\u2019t realise how much I needed it, or how much I would love all that love.\ud83e\udd70 Thankyou for the hugs, the gifts, the fries \ud83c\udf5f (instead of cake), to my beautiful LA angels for the 2am FaceTimes \ud83d\ude02, for the texts , the posts, the HB comments on my page, the 6 voicemails I found of friends eerily singing Happy Birthday \ud83d\ude06, and basically anyone who took the time to wish me a very merry un birthday\u2026. thankyou. This year it really meant a lot \u263a\ufe0f\u263a\ufe0f\u263a\ufe0f.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress previously opened up about her health<\/a> in 2021, sharing an Instagram video about her experience with endometriosis<\/a> and adenomyosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cI consider myself VERY lucky that I have now found two incredible specialists \u2026 they BELIEVED me from the moment I met them. They gave me a voice, and non-judgemental space to voice the fact that I had been in chronic pain basically since I was 13\u2026but that I had been patted on the head and told \u2018that\u2019s what every woman feels like\u2019 and \u2018that\u2019s just called a painful period,’\u201d she wrote in the caption.<\/p>\n
