Peaer have released \u2018Bad News\u2019, the latest single from their forthcoming album doppelg\u00e4nger<\/em><\/a>, which is out January 16 via Danger Collective<\/a>. The slinky, hypnotic track follows previous entries \u2018Just Because\u2019 and \u2018Button\u2019. Listen to it below.<\/p>\n \u201cThis song started off as three separate ideas,\u201d Peter Katz explained in a press release. \u201cThe Pinback-esque bassline, the chord progression that became the chorus, and the outro. Thom, Jeremy and I worked together to construct this song out of those ideas and I\u2019m really happy with how it turned out. I really wanted to include an Omar Rodriguez-Lopez style guitar solo, too. I\u2019m really happy with how we\u2019ve incorporated our influences on this song especially, while also feeling like it\u2019s the \u2018most Peaer\u2019 song to date.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cLyrically, the song grew from the resentment I was feeling at the time towards my career as a musician,\u201d Katz continued, \u201cand also towards myself for further retreating into solitude (\u2018yeah I\u2019m pretty sure\/I\u2019m staying in tonight\u2026\u2019it must be nice\/to make what you like\/and have everyone approve\u2019). Overall it comes out sort of bitter, but I hope the resolve towards the end shows a turn away from that darkness and into a more self-confident future.\u201d<\/p>\n
