Grammer was born in Saint Thomas, US Virgin Islands, but he was raised mainly in New Jersey and Florida. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cI\u2019ve always been a little bit on the more conservative side of things politically around here, so that shift seems to be unfolding because of \u2026 I guess you\u2019d call it malfeasance in office,\u201d the actor said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, I don\u2019t really know what else to say, but somebody took their eye off the ball, and there\u2019s probably going to be some accountability for that. But you never know in California,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
At the time, Grammer said that he had \u201ca house full of refugees\u201d from\u00a0the fires, which broke out in early January and destroyed large parts of\u00a0the Pacific Palisades and Altadena\u00a0areas.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am devastated by the loss, the human loss, the loss of life,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen you lose everything you have, and that\u2019s happened to me a couple of times in my lifetime, it\u2019s just [like], OK, that\u2019s [when] you pick up, and you figure out what\u2019s going to happen next, one foot in front of the other. That\u2019s how it has to be.\u201d<\/p>\n
While Grammer noted that there were \u201ca lot of people around who want to support\u201d those affected by the fires, he understood why some who had lost their homes might decide to leave LA behind.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor many, they\u2019re going to want to find a new way to live, a new way forward, a new place to live. But I know a lot of people want to stay, and I wish them well with it. And I\u2019m certainly going to do everything I can to help,\u201d Grammer said.<\/p>\n
Grammer is currently starring in the new survival thriller \u201cTurbulence\u201d in which he plays Harry, a hot-air balloon operator. <\/p>\n
The movie\u2019s official plot synopsis reads, \u201cZach and Emmy\u2019s romantic retreat aboard a hot-air balloon takes a terrifying turn when they are hijacked by a sinister third passenger with a link to Zach\u2019s past. <\/p>\nGrammer as Frasier Crane in a scene from the hit sitcom \u201cFrasier.\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nAs the mystery of their secret relationship is revealed, their spectacular ride becomes a brutal mental chess-match and a lethal battle high in the sky.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTurbulence\u201d also stars Hera Hilmar, Jeremy Irvine and Olga Kurylenko.<\/p>\n
While speaking with Fox News Digital, Grammer explained what drew him to the role.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy initial reaction was basically, I think I figured I could do it,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s what I usually would do. And have I done it before? Well, not exactly. I mean, oddly enough, he\u2019s a little like Captain Tom Dodge was in \u2018Down Periscope\u2019 [Grammer\u2019s 1996 comedy]. Because he\u2019s a guy that\u2019s running a boat, basically.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe knows how to sail, he understands the wind, understands the relationship between the environment and where he is in his vessel,\u201d Grammer continued. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a good skipper. So I mean, I thought, yeah, I\u2019ve done that before, but it doesn\u2019t go as he hopes it\u2019s gonna go that day, which is really interesting. And he\u2019s a terrific character, avuncular and friendly, and you feel safe around him. And that was something I haven\u2019t played a lot. So it was fun to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTurbulence\u201d will be released in theaters and on digital platforms on Dec. 12.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
