Boots<\/em> is an eight-episode dramedy, inspired by former U.S. Marine Greg Cope White\u2019s memoir\u00a0The Pink Marine<\/em>. The series is set in the \u201ctough, unpredictable world of the 1990s US Marine Corps when being gay in the military was still illegal,\u201d according to\u00a0Tudum<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As I previously wrote, “Boots<\/em>\u00a0is one of those shows that took viewers and critics completely by surprise. Though it lacks the star-power associated with so many other shows on [my best of 2025 list], the dramedy packs a true emotional punch (no wonder it spent so long on Netflix\u2019s Top 10 Shows list).” <\/p>\n

Unfortunately, none of that was enough. (Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian’s terrible law firm series<\/a> got renewed, and I’m still stewing over it<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

And even more unfortunate? There’s no chance for the series to be scooped up by another streaming service (a la Manifest<\/a><\/em>). Per Deadline<\/em>, “Because of Netflix\u2019s strict exclusivity terms, it is virtually impossible for an outside studio to shop a series after it has been canceled by the streamer.” *Sigh*<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
