A group of Rob Reiner<\/a>\u2019s closest friends and collaborators, including Billy Crystal<\/a>, Larry David<\/a>, Martin Short<\/a> and Albert Brooks<\/a>, released a joint statement on Tuesday in remembrance of the prolific filmmaker and his wife, Michele Singer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbsorbing all he had learned from his father Carl and his mentor Norman Lear<\/a>, Rob Reiner not only was a great comic actor, he became a master story teller,\u201d read the statement released to The Associated Press. \u201cThere is no other director who has his range. From comedy to drama to \u2018mockumentary\u2019 to documentary he was always at the top of his game. He charmed audiences. They trusted him. They lined up to see his films.\u201d<\/p>\n
