Nine Inch Nails<\/a> are reportedly working on new music.<\/p>\n The band\u2019s last album was 2020\u2019s double LP \u2018Ghosts V-VI\u2019<\/a>, which was surprise-released as a free download during the pandemic.<\/p>\n Since then, Trent Reznor<\/a> and Atticus Ross have been busy working on various film scores, including Challengers<\/em><\/a>, Empire of Light<\/em> and this year\u2019s TRON: Ares<\/em><\/a>, as well as being on the road with their huge \u2018Peel It Back\u2019 tour.<\/p>\n Now, Reznor has revealed that the live shows, along with their work on TRON: Ares<\/em>, has inspired him and Ross to work on further NIN music.<\/p>\n Speaking to Consequence<\/em><\/a>, Reznor said: \u201cWe are working on new stuff and we\u2019re excited to work on it, and we are prioritising working on Nine Inch Nails over just taking on every single thing that comes up in the other category.\u201d<\/p>\n NME<\/em> gave \u2018Ghosts V-VI\u2019 four stars in a review that read<\/a>: \u201cIt\u2019s impossible to absorb both sides of the record without viewing the record as a soundtrack to a global pandemic. Here\u2019s some good news for panicked times. Part 1, \u2018Together\u2019, is a collection of music more soothing than balm.\u201d<\/p>\n He went on to add: \u201cSo, beyond that, I can\u2019t say much, but the difference between now and a year ago is the fuse has been lit and the desire is there.\u201d<\/p>\n Back in October, Reznor and Ross debuted tracks from TRON: Ares<\/em> at the film\u2019s world premiere<\/a>.<\/p>\n They performed the single \u2018As Alive As You Need Me To Be\u2019, which they had previously been showcasing on their North American tour dates, below the hovering Recognizer robot from the film.<\/p>\n They also debuted two further songs from the soundtrack \u2013 \u2018Forked Reality\u2019 and \u2018Shadow Over Me\u2019 \u2013 and also performed their 2007 track \u2018The Warning\u2019 with Boys Noize<\/a>.<\/p>\n In other news, Nine Inch Nails have been involved in this year\u2019s rock drummer switch-up<\/a>, effectively swapping drummers with Foo Fighters<\/a> over the summer.<\/p>\n It came after Josh Freese, who stepped in as a touring drummer for the Foos back in 2023 following the death of Taylor Hawkins<\/a>, announced that he had departed the band after they \u201cdecided to go in a different direction with their drummer\u201d, and added that he was caught off-guard by the move and left \u201cshocked\u201d.<\/p>\n Dave Grohl<\/a> then later official confirmed Ilan Rubin \u2013 who had previously been the live drummer for Nine Inch Nails \u2013 had joined Foo Fighters at a recent gig, telling the crowd: \u201cEverybody else has said it, I finally get the opportunity to say, ladies and gentlemen, will you please welcome, the most badass motherfucker, Ilan Rubin, is playing drums in the Foo Fighters. It\u2019s official.\u201d<\/p>\n Freese then joined Reznor and co. for the remainder of NIN\u2019s huge \u2018Peel It Back\u2019 world tour<\/a> dates.<\/p>\n The tour marked the band\u2019s first live shows since 2022.
