Online<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n Angelina Jolie<\/a> is embracing an eternal chapter in her life. <\/span><\/p>\n Over a decade after the “Maleficent” actor <\/span>underwent a double mastectomy<\/span><\/a>, she shared why she\u2019s ready to show her scars from the procedure for the first time. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI share these scars with many women I love,\u201d Jolie, 50, told <\/span>TIME France<\/span><\/a> in an interview published Dec. 15. \u201cAnd I\u2019m always moved when I see other women share theirs. I wanted to join them, knowing that TIME France would share information on breast health, prevention and knowledge about breast cancer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n And true to her words, the “Eternals” star \u2014 who shares kids <\/span>Maddox<\/a>, 24, <\/span>Pax, 21, <\/span>Zahara<\/a>, 20, <\/span>Shiloh<\/a>, 19, and twins <\/span>Vivienne<\/a> and<\/span> Knox<\/a>, 17, with ex-husband <\/span>Brad Pitt<\/a> \u2014 <\/span>unveiled her scars<\/span><\/a> on the front cover of the publication\u2019s upcoming issue.<\/span><\/p>\n PHOTOS<\/b> Angelina Jolie’s double mastectomy: Inside her road to recovery<\/a><\/p>\n Jolie<\/span> has advocated for breast cancer awareness since her mom, fellow actor <\/span>Marcheline Bertrand, died from the illness in 2007<\/a> at age 56. She then went through her own health scare six years later, revealing in her 2013 <\/a><\/span>New York Times<\/span><\/a> op-ed piece<\/a> that doctors found a \u201cfaulty gene\u201d called BRCA1 \u2014 which increased her risk of getting breast cancer and ovarian cancer \u2014 in her tests. <\/span><\/p>\n
