Vinik Sports Group (VSG) is partnering with SPP on the project, which expands <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Daily\/Issues\/2018\/03\/21\/Facilities\/Tampa-Cascade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Daily\/Issues\/2018\/03\/21\/Facilities\/Tampa-Cascade\/\">the Water Street development <\/a>first begun by SPP and VSG around 2018. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-facilities \">The 56-acre, $3B-plus Water Street project\u2019s first phase was on full display during Tampa\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/04\/04\/tampa-amalie-arena-upgrades-on-display-at-womens-final-four\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/04\/04\/tampa-amalie-arena-upgrades-on-display-at-womens-final-four\/\">hosting of the Women\u2019s Final Four<\/a> earlier this year. But the project thus far had focused on residential, hotel, retail and office space, including four residence towers, three hotels, and a University of South Florida Medical hub. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-facilities \">This latest development is geared solely toward entertainment and hospitality. The smaller, more intimate music venue fills a void in the local market, while the 250-key hotel and 100,000 square feet of retail, dining, and entertainment help establish a fully connected entertainment corridor. SPP plans to break ground on the project in 2027. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-facilities \">VSG was established in 2020 by <b>Jeff Vinik<\/b> and expanded to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Daily\/Issues\/2022\/01\/04\/Franchises\/Lightning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Daily\/Issues\/2022\/01\/04\/Franchises\/Lightning\/\">include Arctos in 2021<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2024\/10\/24\/tampa-bay-lightning-jeff-vinik-ownership-shares\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2024\/10\/24\/tampa-bay-lightning-jeff-vinik-ownership-shares\/\"><b>Doug Ostrover<\/b> and <b>Marc Lipschultz<\/b> in 2024<\/a>. Vinik sold his majority ownership stake but retains governance of the team for three years.
