Lady Gaga, ‘Mayhem’ (Interscope Records)<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Both Lady Gaga<\/strong> and Ariana Grande<\/strong> have had big years \u2014 scoring hit records, appearing in\u00a0film and television projects,\u00a0announcing tours\u00a0and earning award nominations \u2014 so it’s no\u00a0surprise they both made\u00a0Entertainment Weekly<\/em>‘s Entertainers of the Year<\/a>\u00a0list for 2025.<\/p>\n

Gaga’s Mayhem<\/em> producer Andrew Watt<\/strong> penned a\u00a0tribute essay<\/a>\u00a0for the mag, revealing that he and Gaga both got their starts performing at the same New York club, several years apart. The two first met when Gaga guested on The<\/strong> Rolling Stones<\/strong> album he was producing, which led to their collaboration\u00a0on Mayhem.<\/em> He writes, “There was not a day of creation with her that I took for granted …\u00a0Lady Gaga is one of the great storytellers of our time.”<\/p>\n

Watt also shares that he was “often brought to tears” watching her record vocals, adding, “I have never witnessed a human being just straight up going for it in that way before.” He concludes, “Yes, her music makes you want to sing and dance, but more than that\u2026it\u2019s important. It represents freedom, desire, and being authentically YOU.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, both Ariana and\u00a0and her Wicked<\/em> co-star Cynthia Erivo<\/strong>\u00a0were honored in tributes by fellow cast\u00a0member\u00a0Jeff Goldblum<\/strong>.<\/em> Of Ari, Goldblum writes<\/a>, “Her bright, crystalline voice carries both the optimism Glinda projects and the longing she tries so hard to conceal. Ariana\u2019s performance reminds you that lightness is its own kind of courage.”<\/p>\n

He adds, “Together, Cynthia and Ariana create a rare dynamic that feels like a genuine exchange of emotional energy, each of them deepening the other\u2019s performance in ways that anchor the story. What they share becomes the film\u2019s beating heart.”<\/p>\n

The cast of The Pitt<\/em>, Michael B. Jordan<\/strong> and Teyana Taylor<\/strong> are also on EW’<\/em>s list.<\/p>\n
