Tom Morello has joined forces with Beartooth\u2019s Caleb Shomo and <\/strong>Final Fantasy XIV<\/em><\/strong> composer Masayoshi Soken for a new song, \u2018<\/strong>Everything Burns\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, which has landed inside the latest update for the game.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The song features in Final Fantasy XIV: Into the Mist<\/em>, the latest update for the long-running online game, and brings together three worlds that don\u2019t usually overlap this neatly.\u00a0<\/p>\n For those not familiar with the game, Final Fantasy XIV<\/em> is a massive online role-playing game that\u2019s been running for over a decade, with millions of players worldwide. Big storylines, big emotions, big boss battles, and now, big Morello riffs soundtracking key moments in the update.<\/p>\n Morello says he\u2019s well aware of how massive Final Fantasy<\/em> is, even if video-gaming isn\u2019t really his thing.<\/p>\n \u201cFirst thing, I admit I am not a gamer. I\u2019m more of a pinball player, Dungeons and Dragons man myself,\u201d he said. \u201cBut I am aware of the potency of Final Fantasy in the world over the decades.\u201d<\/p>\n The collaboration came together fast. Like, really fast.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the time, Soken was like, \u2018Can you come up with something in the next 36 hours?\u2019\u201d Morello explained.\u00a0<\/p>\n Working with producer Tyler Smyth, they brought in Shomo and pulled the track together under pressure.<\/p>\n \u201cIt really was a lightning-in-a-bottle moment. The pressure forged a diamond.\u201d<\/p>\n For Soken, who has composed music for Final Fantasy XIV<\/em> and Final Fantasy XVI<\/em>, the crossover was surreal.<\/p>\n \u201cSo for me, Rage Against the Machine is in my blood.
