A new Apple TV series starring Emmy Award-winning actor Matthew Rhys, set and filmed in New England, received its first promotional snippet this week.<\/p>\n
\u201cWidow\u2019s Bay\u201d takes place in \u201ca quaint island town 40 miles off the coast of New England,\u201d Apple TV<\/a> said in a description of the horror-comedy series. \u201cBut something lurks beneath the surface.\u201d<\/p>\n The show spans 10 episodes and will debut on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 with its first three episodes, according to Apple TV.<\/p>\n From then on, one new episode release each Wednesday through June 17, the streaming platform \u2014 home to other series like \u201cSeverance,\u201d \u201cTed Lasso\u201d and \u201cPluribus\u201d \u2014 added.<\/p>\n Welsh actor Rhys is known for his role in the FX series \u201cThe Americans.\u201d In \u201cWidow\u2019s Bay\u201d he plays Mayor Tom Loftis, who is struggling to revive his community.<\/p>\n On the island, there is no wireless internet, spotty cell signals and superstitious locals under the impression that the island community is cursed, according to Apple TV.<\/p>\n \u201cLoftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination,\u201d Apple TV said.<\/p>\n \u201cMiraculously, he succeeds: tourists are finally coming. Unfortunately, the locals were right,\u201d it added. \u201cAfter decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again.\u201d<\/p>\n Actors Kate O\u2019Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll and Dale Dickey round out the cast.<\/p>\n The show filmed at several locations in Massachusetts earlier this year such as in Essex and Gloucester, per The Local News<\/a>, in Worcester, per The Telegram & Gazette<\/a>, and in Rockport, per WBZ News Radio<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
