Tom Farley, the brother of the late comedian Chris Farley, is still keeping his brother\u2019s memory alive nearly 30 years after his tragic passing.<\/p>\n
Farley, who starred on \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d<\/a> from 1990 to 1995, was found dead in his Chicago apartment from an overdose on Dec. 18, 1997, at age 33. In an article published Thursday, Tom spoke to People<\/a> about missing the side of his brother that the public never saw.<\/p>\n Noting there\u2019s a distinction between Chris\u2019s fame and his family life, Tom told the outlet: \u201dPeople come up to me all the time and say, \u2018Oh, I miss your brother.\u2019 It\u2019s like, yeah, they miss the celebrity, they miss the laughter\u2014as I do. But I want them to miss the brother I miss.”<\/p>\n Tom explained that Chris embodied every character he portrayed on the late night sketch comedy series. \u201cEvery time he showed up in a skit on \u2018SNL,\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh, he used to do that in front of our aunts and uncles,\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Tom also highlighted Chris\u2019s spiritual life and his genuine nature. \u201cFirst of all, he had more faith than anyone \u2014 like he was always going to church,” Tom recounted. <\/p>\n This sincerity extended to their time working as camp counselors during college. \u201cWe were camp counselors in college, and just to watch Chris … you know, I was there for the camp counselors at the girls\u2019 camp across the lake. Chris, however, was there for the kids. He was like the Pied Piper, just leading these kids on these adventures. He was Peter Pan. He was great,\u201d Tom said.<\/p>\n Additionally, Tom recounted a trip to Disney World where a middle-school-aged Chris convinced him to jump out of a moving ride in a dark tunnel to scare their father.<\/p>\n \u201cI followed him, and we stood there like statues in the dark. Then we heard my dad\u2019s voice\u2014this booming, baritone voice coming closer and closer\u2014and we both realized this was the dumbest idea we\u2019d ever had. We panicked.\u201d <\/p>\n After epically escaping the ride, the brothers \u201cspent the rest of the day riding the monorail around Disney World about 20 times\u201d in an attempt to avoid their fuming father. <\/p>\n While on \u201cSNL,\u201d Farley played some legendary characters, such as motivational speaker Matt Foley, who emphasized that he \u201clived in a van, down by the river,\u201d a wannabe Chippendales dancer, Cindy, one of the \u201cGap Girls,\u201d and a lunch lady in the fan-favorite \u201cLunch Lady Land\u201d sketch.<\/p>\n
