An institution in the D.C. area adult entertainment scene is changing hands to a regional chain.<\/p>\n
Crystal City Restaurant and Gentlemen\u2019s Club<\/a> (422 23rd Street S.) has been sold to Paper Moon<\/a>, which operates other gentlemen\u2019s clubs in Richmond, Northern Virginia and D.C. It\u2019s only the second time the family-owned business has transferred ownership in its 62-year history.<\/p>\n Owner Billy Bayne \u2014 who has run the establishment since 1988 after taking over from his father \u2014 told ARLnow that industry-wide changes in adult entertainment drove him to sell.<\/p>\n \u201cBusiness has just changed,\u201d Bayne said. \u201cIt\u2019s time for me to get out.\u201d<\/p>\n The discreetly named \u201crestaurant\u201d \u2014 before the \u201cgentlemen\u2019s club\u201d part was added<\/a> to the outdoor signage, the name sometimes caused confusion and drew complaints<\/a> \u2014 is open seven days a week. Cigars, champagne on ice and private dance rooms are all available, and it advertises services for bachelor parties, birthday parties and retirement parties.<\/p>\n The establishment also offers reasonably priced prime rib and $5.99 daily lunch specials.<\/p>\n CCR, as the club is known, opened under the name Arlington Luncheon in 1963 \u201cwith the intention of providing hot meals to the Arlington area,\u201d according to its website. It later pivoted to its current business model \u201cto spice things up a bit.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s currently unknown if the name \u201cCrystal City Restaurant and Gentlemen\u2019s Club\u201d will remain.
