\u201cNashville Christmas Carol,\u201d<\/a> added. \u201cI got probably about 24 trees in our department that we are cycling through each day.\u201d<\/p>\nIn a typical set like a home, he\u2019ll have four or five different trees that are used in various shapes and sizes.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd then, the next day, we\u2019re prepping those trees that would be used for the next location,\u201d he explained. \u201cSo it\u2019s like a cycle, constantly redecorating trees.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cReal trees can be a little bit more challenging to decorate, because you have to deal with the branches, and they\u2019re not necessarily always perfect,\u201d he told The Post. \u201cBut if a movie is a period piece such as \u2018A Newport Christmas,\u2019 [then] we have to use a real tree, if we see it up close.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Most Hallmark movies are set in small towns, but the look of the town can change depending on what the script calls for.<\/p>\n
\u201cI always love a town square,\u201d he noted, adding that he makes it look \u201ccharming\u201d and \u201cas clean and beautiful as possible,\u201d but the time of day is also a big factor.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIf it\u2019s a day [scene], I focus on adding garlands or ribbons that will stand out and pop. \u201cA lot of times, we film on locations in different places. Different cities have different resources. Also, oftentimes, we\u2019re filming not during the Christmas season. And so, the stores don\u2019t have it out on the shelves.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of the Christmas stuff we put in the storage, and then try to fit it back for the next movie. We try to hold on to stuff that we know will be useful again.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAs time has gone on, we\u2019ve been using less and less fake snow and more digital snow,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s more cost-effective, easier to clean up, and easier to edit, he explained.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Fake snow is still used on occasion though for \u201clarge mounds, or long walkways.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBut it is fun to do fake snow, because it\u2019s cool to show up on set and see it in the middle of the summer,\u201d Koenig added. \u201cYou can see all the snow everywhere, and usually everyone driving by enjoys the look of what we\u2019re doing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
