A unique Christmas music event will take place Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Georgia Square mall in Athens when a large group of tuba players gather for a concert.<\/p>\n\n

The concert begins at 11:30 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. for any tuba players who want to participate. The fee is $15.<\/p>\n

The TubaChristmas concerts are part of a nationwide event that began in 1974, when tuba players gathered in New York City\u2019s Rockefeller Plaza.<\/p>\n

The concert, according to a Banner-Herald story on a previous concert, includes professional musicians, music teachers, and music students from several schools in the Athens area. In past years, the concert has been performed in the Classic Center.<\/p>\n\n

For those who want to see a large group playing this large brass instrument, Saturday is the day.<\/p>\n
